Yeah, I'm thinking they're talking about it being north of the City Hall complex, since the theoretical parking structure would be shared with the Expo Center.

Maybe we'll luck out and they'll put the stadium where they "creatively re-zoned" to accommodate Wal-Mart.

The Walmart site is at about 13th East, 94th South? We could watch home openers on our way back from Alta.

That City Hall site is someone close to the Trax line. It's walkable, I suppose.

Yes and yes. They've been talking about adding a Trax stop at 94th South, so if the stadium ends up in Sandy, I would imagine it would be a done deal.

I also enjoy how the candidates mentioned are coming progressively closer to Springville. It's only a matter of time before the new stadium is build right next to the Neways temple.

It would be a real shame to build it all the way down in Sandy as that would discourage attendance from the North. I, for one, would be less likely to want to drive all the way down to Sandy from Ogden for every game. I think they would be making a mistake. They need to keep it in central Salt Lake.

Being that I am in Salt Lake County I never put much thought into that. That might be a valid point 🙁

google maps says:

Ogden to RES: 39 mi (about 38 mins)
Ogden to Southtowne: 51 mi (about 43 mins)

5 minutes is going to stop you? You're going to games now, right?

You'd have to be going pretty fast to do 12 miles in 5 minutes. 😲 I doubt that anyone is going to be going 144 mph so I think it might be a few more than 5 minutes. I'd say about 10 - 15 is more realistic depending on traffic. 😉

I don't really see the difference as far as commute time is concerned. Right now you have to get all the way east to Rice-Eccles from I-15 fighting trafic and lights/intersections the whole way. If it was in Sandy it would be another 5-10 minutes max to the 90th south exit and you're more or less there. I live in West Jordan and work in research park on the U. campus and going east-west everyday is far more time consuming than going north-south.

huh?

The comparison was Ogden to RES vs. Ogden to Southtowne. Unless you want a nice scenic route, the road to Sandy from Ogden probably doesn't go through the U of U.

The point, I think, is that it doesn't take all that long on a normal evening to get from SLC to Sandy on I-15. I don't really see it being a difference-maker. To me, coming from Springville, I would consider it virtually the same thing (a stadium in SLC vs. one in Sandy).
