US Open Cup I was curious as to how far away we are from getting to play in the US Open cup. It looks like the middle of July for us but some of the lower division teams are already in the Qualifying stages. Here is an awesome resource.

Thanks for the link!
I can't wait for the US Open Cup! It's just getting better and better. I have no idea why some fans don't get behind it. It's bonus soccer man, like on Chirstmas morning after you've opened your presents and you think you're done, but wait, you forgot about the stocking. Bonus.

I'm excited for this tournament as well. I was looking forward to the match when San Jose came to play the Blitzz a few years ago until I heard than Landon Donovan was not going to participate. I was wondering about the match sites, though. I looked at last year's schedule, and it seems the MLS matches are always played on the road, at the home of the First Division team. Is that always the case? Will we not see a US Open Cup match at RES?

Usually the Open Cup games against lower division opponents don't draw well so MLS opts to play on the road. Also most early round games are played on Wednesdays.
Imagine if RSL is paired up against the Fresno Fuego or Pittsburgh Riverhounds. It's not going to draw like a league game but the cost of hosting a midweek game would still remain the same.
