Wednesday's games

Was I the only loser who watched?

My cable was out for a while, but I managed to catch most of the LA-Columbus match. It was pretty blah -- after all, Landon was out fighting terrorists, errr, I mean with the USMNT -- but it was like InjuryFest2005.

My favorite part was when Jon Busch got hurt and you could totally hear him yelling, "my knee's ****ed up! oh ****! oh ****!" over and over. Chris Albright's knee injury was not nearly as entertaining.

I got home in time to see the end of the LA/Crew match.
Wow, boring.

Pretty much, yeah. Say what you will about the Cheetos, but least their antics are generally entertaining...

The Crapids lost at home. Again. In front of 6579 measly fans. They suck! Ha ha ha!

Yeah but by beating the CRapids, the Smurfquakes have passed us in the standings.
We need to win and have SJ lose/tie.

I guess every silver lining has a cloud. 😉

I just like watching the Crapid fans line up to jump off the bridge. :D

Speaking of the cRapids jumping off the bridge. This was in today's Denver Post...

Criticism for heartless defeat
San Jose tops Colorado, 1-0

Before a sparse crowd of 6,579 at Invesco Field at Mile High, the emotionless Rapids were comprehensively beaten 1-0 on Wednesday night by the San Jose Earthquakes.

Afterward, inside a locker room as mute as a dentist's waiting room, the Rapids had no excuse for their lack of heart.

What a depressing article. I googled the attendance figures for the CRapids and found this website: http://www.kenn.com/soccer/mls/colorado.html It looks like their attendance has gone down double digits for the 03 and 04 years, and it's not appearing though it's much better for 05. What would cause attendance to shrink so drastically? What can we do to prevent our attendance figures from crashing? Just curious for anyone's thoughts...

My theory is that Kroenke (owner of the CRapids) is taking some time off from promoting the team. I think (hope) they are just waiting to push really hard when the new stadium is built.
There is also a rumor going around that the CRapids might rebrand ala FC Dallas.

I am a reformed cRapids fan and the reason for the drop in attendance is that they suck. Their brand of soccer is the epitome of boring. They have also always kind of sucked so it's hard for fans to become die hard. They are the Cinncinatti Bengals of the MLS. Although they did have a run and made it to the MLS Championship game, their record that year was still not impressive. I was a Rapids fan for 9 years and it didn't take much of a push to transfer my allegiance to the closer Salt Lake team.
