What is Home Field Advantage? Just wanted your take on what you think encompasses home field advantage?
Here are some of my Thoughts: 1. Being loud for the home team (obvious) 2. Getting on the officials (We help make some of the calls) Name a sport were the home team does not get on the officials? Have you heard some of the Chants in England? 3. Making fun of the other team? (Intimidation) 4. Just being loud...... Just some of my thoughts. I never want to watch a soccer match sitting down, or without screaming my arse off. Heck without that.. it is a tennis match. And I hate tennis.

Or it's baseball, that's not that much fun either

Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.

I took my kid with me to Saturday's game, he's five, and wouldn't have seen squat with all y'all standing in front of him, so we moved up to the upper part of the section. The experience was complete crap for me. The crowd was not into the game whatsoever, and I had to sit up above the you crazies and watch all the fun you had, without really being a part of it. There were some losers in front of me, and everytime I joined in a chant with you guys, they would look back at me like, not with a look of disdain, but more of a look of pity, like, "who is this feeble-minded idiot, and why is he not down there with the rest of the fools." With about 25 mins. left in the game, they moved over to the top of section 30. I guess they just couldn't bear it any longer. People say the crowd wasn't in it...but they sure got up and cheered whenever the freakin' announcer said, "Okay Salt Lake Fans, let's make some noise...I can't hear you, let's make some noise!" After the second of these episodes, I couldn't help myself from shouting at all the handsitters around me, "Okay, Salt Lake Fans, let's keep making noise!" One chick looked up at me and laughed, but she didn't start cheering any more than before. Was it just the early goal that took the wind out of the crowd, or was everybody too tired from all their hard partying for Memorial day weekend or what was the deal? We got less out of a 17,800 crowd than we got out of the 12,000 from the Chivas game. Let me tell you it was awful sitting anywhere other than the supporters section. It's the first time I've done it since 2002, and I now know that it is the supporters section that turned me into a soccer maniac. I went a whole year and change after attending that game in 2002, before I finally made it to another game. But after attending a game in the supporters section, I decided to book a trip to LA for MLS Cup. Crazy what a little group euphoria can produce.

I see people on TRAX carrying seat cushions and I can't understand how anyone can go to a game and just sit down the whole time. __________________

Its us fools that are providing all of the atmosphere. If they can't take the noise and chants they have no right to call themselves soccer fans. You are right though, last nights crowd sucked. After the third goal alot of people got up and left which made me hope to hell we would have scored a late goal or two just to tick 'em off. Had we not been cheering the place would have been as quiet as a library. Who knows why. But really all of this means that we Loyalists need to be even louder.

Most of them really aren't soccer fans. I took my daughter with me last night. She has made fun of me every time I get back from the games and watch parties because of my excitement from the experience. She was standing with us and joining in on our chants. She even told me that she wants season tickets next year. If she can catch the spirit, anyone can. These "fans" need to get off their hands and realize that this isn't a Jazz game where the crowd doesn't cheer unless the Jumbotron tells them it is time. __________________

Well, a friend of the familes bought tickets in e35, row 17, so my wife and I sat over there. I think it may have been a combination of the fact that we were down 1 nil five minutes in and the section, but I will never sit there again. That was not a soccer experience. I actually got to the point were I was discouraged, and just sat there with them (boo, they conquered me!). I'm sorry, but bring on the cheap seats (or places to stand).
