I'll miss the mouth-agape, glassy-eyed stare Rongen brought to the Cheetos sideline. It always added to the comedy value of their matches.

Has he done well in any of his coaching stops?

Well, he did win Coach of the Year in '96 with the Mutinoids... for whatever that's worth.

Coach of the year doesn't mean much. How many winning records have his teams had?

Get SoccerPrime to do his magic... he can find you all kinds of good stuff, I'd bet.

Rongen does have an MLS Cup win on his resume (1999), although he did it with Bruce Arena's team.

Has he done anything other than the MLS Cup with the team that Bruce built?

Is there really that much of a shortage of quality coaches in the US that we have to keep recycling coaches? I know the other professional leagues are often guilty of that, but if we don't give some other people a shot, it will be ugly long term.

Wow the new Chivas USA coach has good creditials:
Westerhof, 56, currently serves as director over Chivas de Guadalajara, Saprissa of Costa Rica and Chivas USA - all owned by Jorge Vergara. Formerly, Westerhof coached PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and Willem II in his native Holland.

Carlos Alberto Parreira had better credentials & what did the '97 Metrostars do?

Well, they made the playoffs. That's quite an accomplishment for the Metrostars.
