You are making the mistake that the Crapids actually have fans.

But if the team pays some ppl to show up in SLC for them, I am sure RSL fans will be nice. At least a lot nicer than the "fans" in Denver are.

It was free soccer ball night so 14,100 of the 14, 200 fans that were in attendance were there for the soccer balls.

The tidy bowl man had to find a box of old plastic horns in a closet somewhere to give to all the kids around the Loyalists so that they could attempt to drown us out...
It didn't work.

The kid that I spoke with stood right beside me on the steps and put the end of his horn next to my left ear and blew very loudly. I politely asked him to stop... the first time. the second time about ten minutes later he did it again and I told him not to do it again.

next thing i know his dad came down and got in my face and asked what I said to his kid? He stunk of beer and was looking for a fight. So I told him what i said and he told me not tell his kid what to do.
I said "Obviously some one needed too".

a few more verbal exchanges and it was over.
The part that baffled me is that we got chewed out by every one for saying "crappy"... this guy comes down and drops the f bomb almost every other word and no one says anything for a minute or two. and when they say something it is to me. I didn't swear once... NOT ONCE...

I found out later (I didn't hear it) that he asked me to step out side and finish it like men... but tht was apparently when he was glaring at the back of my head cos I was ignoring him.
I would certainly like to see the security tape.

Sounds like "Stadium Security" in the Invesco Stadium, is an oximoron. The "Security" were watching you guys, but allowed all that other crap, without interfering. I think, all of you who got beer on you should get together and send the cleaning bills to the Colorado Rapids organization along with some very strong complaints. It might be good if the actual complaint came from our F/O.

I would have to agree. The true hard core rapids fans, who you had the sense that they've supported the team since it wore green and Marcelo Balboa was playing for them, saw our interactions with security and empathised with us after the game. It's a battle they've been fighting since 96 I guess.

It takes an experience like that to realize how nice we have it in Salt Lake. RES security has really given us our space and the other fans have truly grasped what we (the supporters) are their to do.

cheers to rsl, res, and slc!

Several members of the RMC organizing committee, C10, will be in town for the last Colorado game, so we have an opportunity to show them at least how gracious and kind we can be, even while throwing out intelligent insults to keep the rivalry alive. 🙂

Peter Mellor, today, suggested we(the group that travelled) write a letter of complaint to the Rapids FO.
I am sure we may be able to get some support from the FO if we did.

McKid I think you nailed it With that comment about how great the fans are here.
We really do have it great here.

As a sometimes troll around here 😉 and an all the time Rapids fan I want to apologize on behalf of the idiots who threw things at you. From the responses on the Rapids board on BigSoccer it was none of the diehards who did it. A few came over to give you guys a hard time, but all in good fun. I don't think any of the troublemakers are making the trip to SLC, so it should be a good time for all of us.

As far as stadium security, now you know why the Rapids don't have an organized fan group. The River Ratz eventually got beat down by stadium security and NO support from the FO. There are members of the Rapids FO who leave the impression that they don't want rabid supporters with drums and noise makers, organized chancts, etc. in the crowd. The combination of draconian security and an FO that won't support the fans has led to the dwindling of diehards down to the few in section 127.

Yet we weren't allowed to throw streamers.

I do need to mention that most of this was only coming from a few fans. The rest were quite nice to us.

Tiger Fitzpatricks wife, Maggie, was standing behind us. She didn't get hit with anything but was very vocal about the treatment we recieved. Thanks Maggie.

First, I don't think anyone here suspected you or your group of doing the deed. Actually, it sounds like the worst things were done by some drunks with no self-control. The real issue is that the security seemed to be concentrating on watching the innocents and perfectly okay with the foul actions of the guilty. That seems just a little twisted, to me.

We are very blessed with an Owner and Front Office, who want our support and have supported us from the beginning. And a stadium security staff that are friendly and only looking for real infractions, like safety issues. Of course at least part of that goes back to the Front Office and their instructions as to how to treat the Loyalists.

All I have to say about the CRapids is, what a bunch of boobs. Wa wa wa. Drunk people coming for freebies, staying to throw toiletries. At least try to pull off a classy drunk. I do 😇
