Jamaica v. Trinidad and Tobago Friendly Cancelled

I am very disappointed with this. I scored tickets, had my flight all arranged and everything. It was even going to be in my beloved Upton Park, taking my son there for the first time. I am so sad.

I don't know if Williams, Rojas, and Fitzpatrick were all going to be playing or not.

You should still go just for vacation if nothing else.

Normally you would think so. But we had just over 24 hours on the ground in London, so it doesn't really seem worth it.

This is going to be my first week in a long time without a major soccer match.

I work for a language services company that does translation, interpretation and language education mostly (but by no means entirely) in the areas of military intelligence, law enforcement, and professional sports. I left an academic career, but am still a visiting professor at one of Utah's fine institutions of higher learning. I have taught everything from anti-colonial literature to Zulu, but mostly I teach linguistics and 6th semester Dutch.

I guess that would depend on what you are accounting for.

I do get to travel a fair amount to a lot of places Americans don't typically go, but then a lot of the stuff that we see in our line of work is, well, depressing. But the soccer stuff we do makes up for it.

Sawubona!! I served an LDS mission in South Africa and picked up ngcani Zulu while I was there. Cool language! I also picked up a bitte Afrikaans as well - a derivitive of Dutch. Of course, it's been almost 11 years now - so most of it has leaked out of my brain.

Cool. I lived in KwaMashu township (Durban) for just over 6 months. I originally got into South African languages via Afrikaans via Dutch which is a language I grew up with partly (my grandmother spoke Dutch and I saw her every day) and spoke as a missionary.

Nice!! I was in the Durban mission. Spent a Sunday in Kwa Mashu once. Most of my township experience came in Umlazi - the other big one on the outskirts of Durban. Wonderful country/people!
