Cutler Start

I can't believe this little bit of info hasn't generated more discussion. Ellinger said he didn't want to start Besagno in holding mid going up against Donovan all night. How is Cutler any better in holding mid? Besegno is a bigger body and plays a very physical game and when we last played LA we really played Donovan physically it took him off his game a bit. Comments? Trying to generate some discussion here - the board looks kinda slow today!

Why? Because when Cutler came in during the friendly on Wednesday he scored.
Besagno didn't. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

I'm too torn on this to have an opinion yet. Must do more thinking...

Yes, but we dont know how Cutler will do on defense. During the second half of are game on Wed. we were dominating so much we did get much of a chance to see him playing some defense. His shot on Wed. was pretty awesome though! I like Besagno, he is only 16-years old if we give him some time he will develop into a great player. I also think Dipsi should be starting over Washington.

Other than put the ball in the back of the net when it was served up on a silver platter when he was all alone (nice touch assist by Jamie, my 12 year old bro could have finished that one off) Cutler didn't do much else IMHO. If this strategy of which you speak is to reward good results (scoring goals) why not also start Jamie (two assits and the foul that set up the PK) and Dipsy (converted the PK and also nearly scored on a wicked shot)?

Speaking of strategy, as I mentioned before Ellinger specifically mentioned not started Besegno at holding mid because he didn't want him going against Landon in the middle of the field all game. So again I ask the question how is Cutler any better of a choice? Keep the comments coming please!

I agree with you, and Dipsi's shot was wicked. What do you guys think of Washington? I think Watson or Dipsi shoul be starting over him, i just think he's to slow and old.

Yes, but he can play the target forward role.

Here's why I agree Washington should start up top with Jason. HEIGHT. We never win any balls in the air, and Kreis and Dipsy are not going to help that cause at all. Washington's presence alone makes him valuable up top. Then again, if he can't be effective with that presence, then I say bring in Watson.
