Sheesh, thanks for the vote of confidence...you stinker. I was NOT having just Braxeton-Hicks. I was having irregular contractions. AND....why do you feel stupid? At least I didn't start the preterm labor at 24 weeks, like with the twins.

Anyhow, by the end of the weekend, I had been in the hospital on Sat. and on Sun. Both times with REAL contractions, just irregular ones. At least they gave me morphine on Sunday to help stop them, AND they didn't send me home still contracting and in pain like the doc on Saturday did.

I'll be so glad when this pregnancy is over. I've had nothing but trouble the last half. I've been miserable. BUT...DadOf8 has been EXCELLENT about helping out, so I have no complaints in that department.

Hopefully all goes well for you. My wife had a preemie at 32 weeks just last month. The whole preemie thing wasn't too fun. 🙁

Thanks 🙂 . How is your new addition doing now? Thank goodness I'm 35 weeks. Both sets of our twins came at 34 weeks, that was very scary! The boys were in the NICU for 2 weeks, but the girls were only in the Hospital Nursery for 1 week.

I hope all is well with your wife and baby.

MomOf8, you and I need to talk, girlfriend. :D I was on bedrest at about 28-29ish weeks with my twins because of some preterm labors symptoms. I kept thinking, "I don't need to be on bedrest. The contractions stop as soon as I lie down, so... Oh wait... Contractions stop when I....Awww... Got it."

Every week that passes you think, "This week they could be born and they'd survive, but just have a lot of problems (29-33 wks)... This week they could be born and not have any PERMANENT problems, so that's good (34-36 wks).... This week they could be born and be able to breathe!! Sweet! (36 or 37 wks on)...."

My twins made it to 36 weeks, which was just amazing considering I was in the hospital a minimum of twice a week for problems. Five days before the twins were born, we were throwing a birthday party for three-year-old and I suddenly looked up and my vision was messed up (you know: "floaters", lights, not so subtle symptom of toxemia...) I just started crying suddenly and said, "Okay, I have to go back to the hospital. Again."

When they offered to do an amnio at 36 weeks just to check, I jumped on the chance and the twins were born the next day.

What was this thread about originally? I can't remember.

Things are great now. He's a whopping 5 pounds, 6 ounces. We took him home under 5 pounds - such a tiny little guy. We were very fortunate. My wife's water broke at almost 31 weeks, and they kept her pregnant up at the U until 32. When our little guy was born, he didn't have to be on any breathing aparatus after about 5 or 6 hours. He then had to be able to maintain his own temperature, gain weight and feed orally. He did spectacularly well on the first two, but it took him almost 3 weeks before he was able to do the latter well enough for us to take him home. That NICU stuff is incredible!! I'm very appreciative of modern medicine and the people that can practice it to that degree!

My twins went home with me after four days! Can you believe it? They were only in the NICU for two or two and a half days!! It was such an amazing blessing. No... miracle.

I bet the child-to-parent ratio for Loyalists is about 10 times what is for other MLS Supporters Clubs. 🙂

Nice to have you aboard Momof8 and good luck with your new addition!
