Some observations from the Galaxy Match (6-11-05)

I watched it tape delayed on FSN: Rockey Mountain, and my first observation is we need to keep Bill Riley and (I think it was Ron Hudson) together for each match.

Ron was the former coach of DC and the Fusion and is such a joy to listen to. "Brilliant" "Beautiful Ball!" He did the Argentina Brasil game earlier in the week and was just fun to listen to.

RSL looked somewhat decent for the first time since Chivas. The D played very well minus Pope (get better quickly) and Pierce (same goes for you). Behnke had a good game and Kamler in the back played very well.

Kreis should stay as an attacking forward in the midfield.

Watson, where to begin. My new favorite player on the squad. He came and played hard, he was everywhere. He was making perfect passes, he was all up in Reggie Miller's Sister's face (jones) and just was everywhere. He was on the near side, he was on the far side. He played with heart, emotion and it showed. I say start him and give us a spark at the 0 minute rather than wait for the 20-60th minute.

Nice job Jamie!

I still think we need to get this team to gel. they just aren't reading each other yet and that's the hard part, getting them to think like each other.

DJ had another great match between the pipes and the ref's had a crappy match calling off sides (there were two RSL run's they called off sides and they weren't, and Ron just went crazy on the refs - funny as hades to listen to).

New chant for LA Galaxy when our team is struggling" Heart, heart, heart, heart!"

Loyal1, were you at the match? I think I saw you (or someone that looked like you) behind the goal when Daunte missed his header.

Yes he was there. (See the thread titled, "where oh where has my little bordy7 gone?")

How about a new chant of "start jamie, start jamie"?

I thought so, when they showed the replay of Daunte's missed header, it was funny to see Loyal1's reaction.

Great shot if you're a loyalist with ties to Loyal1.

My observations, let’s see if I can remember.

MotM first half: DJ DJ DJ.

But my problem with that is explained in my siggy. He shouldn’t HAVE to be the MotM.

MotM second half: Watson! And why is Jamie Watson’s name not up on the official site for MotM? When he came in the game seemed to turn completely around. There were far too many times that should have been goals and most were because of him.

What was up with the refs and their offside calls? Donovan was obviously offside with his goal, yet they call it on RSL when we were clearly not.

So the Galaxy were sponsoring the game it looked like from the ads? Hmm, explains a lot 😉

We need Pope and Pierce back!

I would have taken Washington out instead of Mathis. Mathis and Watson up front could have worked better than Washington/Watson IMO.

And for all you who were at Iggy’s. I have two words for you. Golden Snitch. 😉

were you talking about Landycakes goal "dance"? Finding the snitch? It's funny to watch because it is pretty girly. Maybe he's pulling a Doug Christie (orlando magic) when he points to his wife after hitting a shot. Maybe he's catching the kiss his girlfriend or dogs blew him when he scored.

I think Jaime Watson should start. As far as Clint coming out, I think he asked to come out. At least I think that's what they said on TV. It would be interesting to see Watson, Mathis, and Kreiss up front. I was thinking even Watson, Mathis, Kreiss, Tiger, and Washington up front would be interesting, but I don't know if we would sacrafice too much on defense by going with 5 forwards. Plus, I don't know enough about soccer to know if that's even legal. It seemed to me like our defense has their stuff together and our offense is anemic. But if Washington had scored off one of those headers I might be singing a different tune right now.

I LOVE your "siggy". Nothing could be truer. We need to keep him from HAVING to make those spectacular saves.

I agree about Jamie Watson. He's fired up, and he has ability. Let's see what he can do up front with Mathis. That sounds like a really exciting idea!

As for MotM, Jamie Watson! When he comes into the game, the level of excitement and effort goes up. We definitely need that!

I would like to get to that meeting with Kreiss and Donovan just so I can ask him about his celebration dance. I'm surprised Riley or Hudson didn't ask him about it.
