Jamie Watson I'm sorry I have to say this but i would take Jamie Watson any day over Clint Mathis in the starting lineup. Watson fires the team up, he doesn't yell at them all. Watson hustles for 90-minutes, Mathis does not. Watson keeps things positive with the team, well Mathis does not really. People say we need someone to bring that attitude, all we need is someone to bring some hustle. I'm sorry but are team played 100% better without Mathis on the field. I have nothing against Clint Mathis the guy has got a heck of a shot, i am hoping sitting on the bench has gotten him fired up and he goes out and plays 90-minutes for the first time this season.

While I agree that Watson has given the team and its fans more passion than Mathis, I think your comparing apples and oranges.
They aren't really the same type of player. Even when Mathis was performing well (aka WC 2002) he still wasn't a Watson-type player. I hope if anything, Watson's performance inspires Mathis to achieve more. But I don't think we permnantly drop Mathis from the lineup for Watson. Can't we have both? | |||||

Yes we can have both, an i'm hoping Mathis starts getting fired up by Watsons energy and Mathis starts playing like... well Clint Mathis of old. How about Williams yesterday, the was the best game i've seen him play all year.
What i meant by i would take Watson over Mathis anyday is right now... they way they are both playing i would take Watson at this point. | |||||

I too loved the way that Watson played last night, but when Mathis is in the game, people have to watch him and mark him at all times because he is so dangerous. By having him in there, he creates opportunities for others. They know him and respect his game, no matter how much he has slowed down. Keep Mathis and Kreis in the middle and let Watson run up front.
I echo Clint's comments on the post game show last night. Once he scores, the flood gates will open and he will start to score in bunches. | |||||

I'm a total Cletus geek. Love the guy. No reason. I just do. I'm a "fan" not a "supporter." :P
I think having The Clint in midfield passing forward to some guys with hustle could work really well. Time to start a thread for your Dream Lineup. | |||||

--------------------Nolly--------------------
---Pierce------Dunseth------Pope---Akwari--- ------------------ Kambler-------------------- ----Williams---------Kries---------Trembly---- -------------Mathis------Watson------------- I would play a 4-4-2, maybe flip flop Kries and Mathis. Also i dont have anything against Countess, i'm just a jay nolly fan. | |||||

Also might have started Chris Brown over Seth Trembly... they both bring a lot of hustle to the game... but i think i will stick with Trembly.

Jamie is here and now... he promises to be the best player in our lineup in time... But Jamie is still our investment for the future of RSL. Mathis will come around... he is super cleetus! Last edited by Deuce : 06-23-2005 at 01:20 PM. | |||||
