I must say I put most of the blame on the players. If the US misses 2006 soccer here will be on life support. Without the good showing in 2002, I'm not sure MLS would be around. It certainly wouldn't be expanding. This may sound crazy, but I wouldn't pay the players anything above travel and training expenses. Maybe provide bonuses for important wins similar to payouts for olyimpic medalists. I hope the players figure it out or I'll be cheering for England.

I'm down with just paying the players a Per Diem & maybe a bonus for wins in official games.
But only if the USSF Suits work for similar compensation. Not that you can believe everything (or anything) you read on BS, but USSF executives make some pretty nice salaries. International soccer is like college football. When your most bitter conference rival plays a team from outside the conference, you have to cheer for your rivals because if they win, it makes your conference look better. A few decades from now, after the Lockout is resolved; there's more of a chance of the USMNT making it to a World Cup if CONCACAF still have 3 spots. And the better CONCACAF teams do against teams from other regions, the more likely it is that CONCACAF will have 3 World Cup spots. So Arriba Mexico! And Vamos Ticos! Maybe RSL will have 2 players in Germany in 2006? (Scott & Brenes?)

Open Letter to USSF This Article may be titled Dallas Burn, but let us not hold it against the author.
This is an open letter to the USSF. It is a well written letter and mirrors my view of the impending doom awaiting the US Soccer scene. I post it here only because it mirrors my views and maybe some of your views as well. It also has USSF Contact information that you can use to make your views heard by the USSF hierarchy. I ask each of you reading this that agrees with this letter, and with me, to visit the feedback page at US Soccer and make your anger, dismay, disappointment or whatever, known to the decision makers at USSF

Roger that! Mission accomplished! They are jerks and I hope they get that message, though if we say that outright, they probably won't even read it, so moderate the message, just enough that they continue reading.
