so they shouldn't be allowed to tryout because of the deadline if they are making a big deal out of age restrictions. I honestly don't know if the utah blitzz have anyone under that deadline. if they are allowed to tryout isnt that hypocritical of them saying you have to be born after april 1, 1982.

does anyone know what this reserve practice squad that is being mentioned?

as in when does that start and what league will they play in,etc?

Well they can invite anyone that they want. And it may be that they meant that, other than specific, named players, they have to meet that criteria. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that they made some kind of deal with the (former) BLiTZZ management to give at least some of their players a shot. It would be a nice gesture. Also, they have to have enough people to make a good tryout.

As to where they are getting a reserve squad, maybe they're trying out for that, too. 😉

well isn't discrimination in some way by allowing those players such as allowing some blitzz players and others who were born before the deadline april 1, 1982 to tryout and not others around the state of utah who were born before the deadline?

that is not being fair to those who want to tryout/could possibly get nominated to tryout afterall i guarantee most players that play in the soccer organizations that RSL wants nominations from are older than the deadline...for example, most blitzz players are over 22 as well as most players that play in the men's utah soccer association are over 22 yrs old and even some college players.

it seems the only ones allowed to tryout according to the deadline are youth players, high school players and possibly some college players depending on their age.

i think the blitzz had open try outs for some fee, and i know that RSL probably wants to limit the number of trying out, but they could have taken the age deadline off and just ask for nominations and go from there. i think from the nomination form and what they are asking for from the form they would get a good tryout.

i know they want to develop younger guys, but i think guys older than 22 can contribute as well afterall look at their current roster.

It also may be that they meant exactly what that article said and that no one will be accepted who doesn't meet the age requirement. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
