When was Benke's last start? The last game I remember him playing in was the home opener.

Well, all my optimism about the cheetos game took a serious hit when I read that Broome was still not available and Behncke would likely get the start.

Behncke did play well in the 0-1 game in LA, and I don't think he's necessarily the problem. But without Pope, Dunseth, or Pierce, we don't have a true anchor in the back--a leader who will hold it all together and keep things organized. Kamler is a versatile player, but he's not the leader of the defense.

Cheetos are quite beatable but we cannot afford defensive lapses. They thrive on quick shots from around the 18, and if we don't mark properly they will get open shots.

Someone's got to step up and lead the back 4. I'm not sure who that will be.

Who would you play in his place? We don't have anyone else. Do you want to put in someone from the devlopmental roster with no experience in a must win game on the road? Behnke has been fine, mostly, when playing central defense. Relax, it will be fine, I hope.

Akwari? He's played more than Behncke (How DO you spell that guys last name!?!) up to this point, and he can play center back also. That would leave Kamler and who on the right and left sides?

I asked Nelson at practice today and he said he IS starting Saturday.

Whether Benhke starts or not I do not know.
Paul Broome was practicing at full speed today... so he may start.

According to the papers yesterday, Broome is out until July 23 and will not play this weekend. They also said Beckne is starting this weekend against Chivas, in the central position.

What about Lookingland? Can't he play too?

I would rather us not give a rookie his first start on the road.
