No, actually, I think losing in the final is worse than getting bumped in an early round. If you make a final, you better win it. The CRapids have had ten years to win something--ANYTHING--and both times they were close they choked.

When the CRapids lost to the Rhinos, there was no doubt about what was at stake. Winner take all. And the CRapids couldn't get it done.

Come back in ten years and see what's in the RSL trophy case.

Hey, we're not very good right now, that's for sure. No running from that, and last night was a new low.

But it's not with desperation that I point out that the CRapids have personified futility for a decade. That's not a trend, it's a tradition.

If a fan of DC United, the Galaxy, the Quakes, or even KCW wanted to talk tradition and winning, there's not much to be said in response. Those teams have earned honors.

But the CRapids? C'mon. Colorado started playing in 1996 and is still plays like an expansion team. How long do you get?

RSL has played for less than four months. We've got a long way to go and many, many, many more losses before we can aspire to the depths of performance that the CRapids share only with Metro. The Revs may finally be leaving that exclusive group.

Hey, I don't blame him for getting in his shots. That's the sign of a good rivalry. Who isn't tempted to indulge in some Schadenfreude when your rival is getting smacked around?

But you gotta have something to brag about. And as a fan of the CRapids since 1996 (they were the Rocky Mountain team until RSL) I know about every "almost" in team history.

Honestly, I want both teams to be better so the RMC actually means something.
