Salt Lake picks up defender, midfielder in trades

Real Salt Lake acquired defender Paul Broome and the rights to midfielder Adlofo Gregorio in separate trades Wednesday.

I know we've been discussing Broome for awhile, but I don't recall hearing about Gregorio, before. If I just missed it, I appologize.

Here's another kid, and my first thought was, what do we need him for? But then I thought of Jamie, and maybe it makes sense after all. What do you think?

Yes, Jim this is old news.
We only have the rights to Gregorio right now, but Ellinger said the other day that Gregorio was going to sign. In fact Coach said that Gregorio should be arriving this week.

However he also said we were going to sign Guatemalan defender Cabrera and it seems that might have gone south, so we'll have to see.

Ellinger said on 1280 the other day that they found a way to have Cabrera before the 15th of August, and that he expects the three of them, Gregorio, Broome, and Cabrera to all be playing with us by months end.

This month's end, or end of August? I had heard in that interview that he may be able to get them on the last day of the month of July - is that what you mean?

Yes but the Spanish language paper (posted elsewhere) says Cabrera rejected RSL's offer due to low pay.
