The Unbreakable Vow was complicated. It included several different things. What I remember:

1. Vowed to help Draco with his mission
2. Vowed to protect him and watch him
3. Vowed to complete the mission for him if necessary

The Snape stuff isn't contingent on Dumbledore being still alive (sort of). I think Dumbledore fully intended to have Snape do whatever it took (including killing him) to stay on Voldemort's good side. Why is this necessary? I think it's obvious, but I'll explain if anybody doesn't see the light. 😉

All I'm saying is that Dumbledore had better really be gone. That would be super stupid if he shows up again. Also Snape could still be evil. That doesn't mean that Dumbledore is a fool. It's obvious that he knows something that we (and Harry and maybe Snape) don't know. Snape may have helped defeat Voldemort by killing Dumbledore even if his intentions were evil. One of my first thoughts is that Dumbledore somehow turned himself into one of Voldemorts horcruxes when he drank the stuff and thus had to be destroyed. In any case this last book could be pretty cool or really dumb depending on what she does.

My sister's theory is that Voldemort accidentally turned Harry into a Horcrux when he tried to kill him. Maybe intending to split his soul and make something else into a Horcrux, but the spell obviously didn't go right, etc. This is in connection to the prophecy that says somethign like, "Neither shall live while the other survives" or something like that.

If you look at great books of similar structure, the good guy always seems to die and then come back. It's almost a given. Gandolf. Whatshisname the Lion in Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. It's kind of a recurring theme in good vs. evil battles. Yes, cliche in some degree, but not "lame" exactly. At least that's my thought. There seems to be a sort of thin line between alive and dead in the wizarding world anyway. What with the talking portraits, etc. Remember when Voldemort's wand reversed all it's spells and we saw Harry's parents and stuff? They sure seemed alive in that scene.

In other words, she can do whatever she darn well wants and make it "work" in this kind of book. She seems to like sort of the "good feeling" stuff and then not give it to it other times. Like how Harry "got the girl" in this book but let Dumbledore die.
