I have been yelling about this for months. Finally its going to happen and the big guy is charge.

Checketts reiterated that the Real Salt Lake head coaching job is Ellinger's for as long as he wants it.
In fact, following Saturday's long-awaited victory, Checketts found time to chat with Ellinger and RSL general manager Steve Pastorino for just a few minutes to make sure the team was still heading in the right direction for the long haul.
One way in which he envisions that happening is better scouting.Instead of just relying on the league to provide international talent, Checketts is very committed to finding it himself.
"I want this to be the most prestigious club in the U.S.," said Checketts. "I order to do that, we're going to have to have scouts in Europe and South America. We're going to have to get our own database."
Checketts is convinced that with a players' coach like Ellinger and a fan base that is quickly earning a reputation as the best in the league, Salt Lake City will quickly become the desired destination for American soccer players.

Or how about this little gem from Uncle Dave regarding his daughter: "In fact several times this season, Elizabeth has commented to her dad that Clint Mathis is getting ripped on the Real Salt Lake message boards.
"She's in Connecticut, reading about what The Loyalists are saying about Clint, and she's getting mad at what they're saying," said Checketts."

This is my absolute favorite quote from this article:

Yeah dysko mentioned this in his thread about the Checketts checking out our boards. In which I'll say she has probably been reading BS not RSL.org.

However, I am very happy to hear RSL (specifically Checketts himself) mention the creation of an int'l scouting system and a database.
Thats why Dallas, DC and LA are able to find quality in other countries.

I am so happy about this!

Great article.

Prime is right--the statements about international scouting are exactly what we've been waiting for.

And this was the kind of simple statement that says it all:

"I want this to be the most prestigious club in the U.S."

Uncle Dave is building this club the right way. We are fortunate to be supporters of a club that conducts its business in such a first class manner.
The foundation is strong. The results will follow.
