Metros finally get a stadium!!!

Great news for MLS, which might actually turn a profit after this stadium gets built:

http://www.mlsnet.com/MLS/news/mls_news.jsp?ymd=20050804&content_id=38779&vkey=pr_mls&fext=.jsp

hopefully that works.. otherwise just go to mlsnet.com

Nope, not possible.
AEG said that the Harrison stadium should be ready by June 2007.
According to Checketts yesterday, RSL will be at RES at least until 2007 maybe even longer.

As for the MetroStars themselves, this is great. And as Jake said, with Metros accounting for most of the debt of the league, a profit making Metro team will bounce the whole league out of the red fairly quickly. AEG maintains that they will make at least $1 million in profit from the stadium after the first year.
WOW!

Yes, but "until" 2007 doesn't mean "through" 2007 😉. As I understand it, the Metros are shooting to have their stadium done about halfway through the season...

Even if they get it done for 2008, that's "about the same time". That would be great, I think.

Well 2007 and 2008 are different years, but whatever works for you.

OK, so let's see now.

-- AEG has (mostly) sold DC United (who have no stadium of their own, but lots of talk).

-- They're looking to unload the Quakes (who have no stadium of their own with nothing in the works).

-- They've already unloaded the CRapids (who have no stadium of their own, although thehave a plan).

What do they have left?

Fire -- nation's third biggest market, stadium opening next year.

Galaxy -- second biggest market, HDC built.

Metro -- biggest market, stadium deal done, opens in two years.

Somebody has a plan . . .

Enlighten us. I don't see what you're alluding to.
