streamers

Can i add a positive note? When Cila scored his goal the other night, all the streamers from the whole stadium looked awesome! Heres to them not getting banned after that game though!

The FO was handing out most of those streamers, I don't think they'll be banned any time soon.

Stucki did just mention that maybe we could substitute confetti for the streamers. Looks "active" but doesn't make it on the pitch (which is the real problem with streamers).

Just a thought.

On another thread, there are photos of fans throwing streamers in a timed pre- game thing. Perhaps that would be cool.

That would be good in a perfect world, but there is absolutely NO WAY you'll be able to confine it to pre-game. People will throw them when they're not supposed to. It doesn't matter what you say, they'll throw them during the game anyway.

I hope you don't ban the streamers... it's one of the things I look far when watching an RSL game out here.

Technically that's true but if someone is determined to throw something at a person on the field, then there's little we can do to stop them, only punish them. It doesn't matter whether streamers or confetti is used.

HINTS:

Remove the closure tape so it will unwind.

Hold onto the end of the streamer then you can retrive it off the field.

Toss high and hard for better effect.

Use a half roll.

The remaining roll lying on the field is a player hazard! There is enough hard volume to flip an ankle! You could take out a player for weeks!
The Assistant Referee has enough problems watching for offside and looking out the side of his head for when the ball is kicked---Why complicate his life by making him look out for a safe path to run so he won't get tripped by the crepe-paper conspiring to trip him!

I think streamers will survive this unfortunate weekend.

I've said this before but I think the FO should not allow them in but pass out perfect-length ones that will unroll all the way and not hurt the players.
