Of course we don't want cost to go too high.

If you're a Most Favored Team (MFT), the salary rules are more like suggestions than rules.

So for Metro, LA, and cheetos, spend away!

Is it really worth RSL trading for anyone at this point? The only way I see it is someone desperate to renforce for a playoff run + willing to give us "top dollar" for a player.

Exactly, at this point we should be a seller, not a buyer. We could sell one of our veterans to a team looking to make a run at MLS Cup - for "top dollar" OR for some promising young prospect. Sell the now for the later, sort of, since we are already probably out of the playoffs for now. This is the regular practice in baseball.

I think I just need to point out (if it already hasn't) that the title of this thread is kind of misleading. No where in this quote does it say anything about a MLS player, he was most likely talking about Tarley. Therefore, mystery solved.

I won't go into details, but we had a couple calls yesterday, one from a team trying to trade one of their better players at this stage of the season."
Ellinger said he was stunned by the development.

Edit: I noticed someone kind of already mentioned this. Oh well.

Well actually it does refer to a MLS player. The article is about MLS teams freezing their rosters after Sept 15. Then it quotes Ellinger saying this:
Quote:
"Other teams are still looking for players. I won't go into details, but we had a couple calls yesterday, one from a team trying to trade one of their better players at this stage of the season."
Other teams can only refer to MLS teams, unless the reporter wrote it completely wrong.

So title is not misleading. 🙂

The rumors are exactly true. Pastorino has been fielding calls from teams/agents interested in moving people around (see my previous post above for specific names). However, Pastorino isn't interested in any of the deals offered to him.

So yes, there are people interested in coming to RSL/pawning their players off on RSL. But no, it doesn't look like anything will come of it.

Yeehaw Tarley!

Not likely to happen this season, maybe in the close

There was only really one serious deal and it probably isn't going to happen this season, although there is a chance for during the close season. Gutsy move, who said anything about us buying anyone or selling anyone?

Ya, at this point I'd think that Ellinger isn't going to be shy about shaking things up in the off season.
