Mistaken Identities (Inspired by the German Folk Music Video)

Have you had the experience of getting mistaken for someone in a random situation?

I was thinking about it and a moment that came to mind was when I was at a bookstore and a clerk came up to me and tried to give me a computer program because "my special order was ready and he was really sorry that it was messed up and there would be no charge."

I told him I had no idea what he was talking about, but thank you for the nice program (it was Quark Express). He even asked to see my ID because he didn't believe me. I have, as yet, to see this individual, who apparently is my twin. They have a beard and glasses just like me.

Of course, I'm always being called Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee and the kid in Goonies), Russel Crowe, or "Smithers" (when I had some excellently huge early 90's glasses).

what do I put here------> ?

Oh, yes: Discuss.

PS Sorry I don't have a reaaaal groovy 'traipsing through fields in the alps singing folk music' video. That's for another waaaaay fabulous thread.

I never thought my lasting contribution to this forum would be a German Folk Music Video, but, hey, I'll take it.

Anyway, great idea for a thread Scilaci. I don't really have any good stories, but I did have kind of a weird encounter at school on Wednesday in the library. I was there, working away at my computer, when someone approached to my right. He said something, although I'm not sure what (it was in the library after all, so he kept his voice low), and it took me a second to realize he was talking to me. I turned, a bit confused because I had never seen this person before in my life, and said something like "sorry, I couldn't hear you." He stopped in his tracks, smiled awkwardly and said "sorry, you just look like someone I know." That was that and he walked off. The entire thing was a bit strange.

Lol, I remember this one time, I was walking up to meet my friend half-way and "half-way" was in front of this Reems store. I was standing there waiting for her and this car drives by and says: "Do you need a ride (insert name I don't remember)?" I shook my head no because mom taught me never get into cars with strangers. And then the lady driving is like "Is your mom coming?" I said yes just to make her go away. Yup. That's all I really remember.
