SALT LAKE CITY - Real Salt Lake General Manager Steve Pastorino and Head Coach John Ellinger today announced the acquisition of striker Melvin Tarley, a Liberian-born forward who has scored six goals in three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Games for the giant-slaying Minnesota Thunder (USL First Division). In order to clear roster space for today's acquisition, RSL placed DF Matt Behncke on waivers. Behncke appeared in eight RSL games this season, starting seven and logging a total of 587 minutes for the senior team.

I never like to see a guy lose his job, especially such a nice guy as Matt.

Dude went to Princeton. He's taking a massive pay cut to play in MLS.

(So is Tiger Fitzpatrick).

All kinds of guys have made comebacks after being cut.

I agree.

That said, it wasn't shocking to seem him waived.

I agree, I don't like someone to lose their job. I too wish him well in the future.

Now, let's just see how this Melvin guy plays.

(different environment = different playing style, to a point)
