Fur those of you that might not know, me, Momof8, Dadof8 and I are completely joking on our posts about BYU and the UofU. If you are a born and raised Utahn, it is the running joke: are you blue or red? That is just the fun rivalry that runs strong here in Utah... for the most part, people are cool about it but it can get out of control for some. If my posts offended, my apologies (except if the fact that I don't like BYU offended, Momof8 and Aero: be offended! Be offended! LOL!) See, I can't stop! it is too funny!

Lovely Poem:
UofU is red 😍
BYU is blue :rei:
Utes do rock :signrocko
and the Y smells like poo! HEEHEEHEE :crap:

Just ignore me if I offend you, those who know me will crack up at this post!

Momof8, I anxiously await your rebuttal poem, they are always loved!!!

I think it's just understood that ALMOST everyone that has voted for Utah fits the "I Jumped on the Ute band-wagon the last few years" category. I am a University of Michigan fan first and foremost (GO BIG BLUE!!!). I also support both BYU and Utah (both parents graduated from BYU, I attended the U). In head to head competition I'm more a cougar fan. To those who claim life-long, undying devotion to the U (Just about all Utah fans make this claim) i ask where were you before the last few years? cause you weren't in the stadium supporting the Utes. Even as recently as 1997 home attendence has been miserable, in 1997 the average home attendance for the Utes was only 28,000, and those are better numbers than the years leading up to 1997 (these are announced attendance figures which we all now does not equal butts in the seats). I remember sitting in the stadium for games in the early and mid 90s and only having a few thousand there. In 1999 they averaged 39,000. In 2000 they again averaged 39,000 and that year they had Arizona, Washington State, Colorado State and BYU at home - All good teams that typically draw huge crowds. Then the numbers went down again, in 2001 they averaged 34,000. In 2002 they averaged only 35,000. They finally averaged more than 40,000 in 2003 with 41,000. So if you're going to claim life-long, undying devotion to the Utes, you had better only be 15 years old or have ticket stubs to prove you are one of the true life-long, die-hards!

No offense taken here. :signrocko Have lived in Utah all my life, so I know what everyone is talking about. It is a fun rivalry, and whatever success each school has only reflects on the conference and the schools in Utah. Like Rover said, it only make the rivalry better.

I've been a Utah fan since Scott Mitchell was their QB in the 80s. I was living in Provo at the time and couldn't stand the sactimonius BYU bandwagon jumpers after they won the National Championship in 1984, so I jumped ship and have been a Ute fan ever since. So, to be accused of being a Ute bandwagon jumper, well was there a Ute bandwagon in the mid '80s?

If becoming a fan in the passed 8 years makes me a bandwagon jumper... then so be it! I really don't care who is a fan or why or for how long...

Why is it such a hang-up for people when someone becomes a new fan of a team when they do well? Well except for all of the lame-butt Dallas Fans that seem to come out of the woodwork whenever they finally do something... I really don't care.

I have been a Maryland Terapins fan since i was about 5 and only discovered Utah in 1978 when my parents dragged me out here from Maryland.
I have been a Baltimore Orioles fan my entire life... saw Jim Palmer and Brooks Robinson play in old Memorial Stadium. I remember when Bert Jones played for the Baltimore COLTS! (not the Baltimore Ravens) I was a fan back then too. They are in Indianapolis now and i am still a fan... but I guess since nobody really cared that I was a fan of the Colts and I don't have any ticket stubs from games I am a bandwagon fan since Peyton Manning came along.

I remember watching the Washington Bullets' Elvin Hayes slam dunk on Julius Irving in the old Capitol Centre in Landover Maryland (now the US Air Arena)
The Bullets still lost... So what! I was still a fan, until Utah got an NBA team... The Bullets changed their name to the Wizards which sounds like a soccer team to me! 🙄
They are not the Bullets anymore so there is no mystique anymore.

Just because i can't name the entire roster of a team and can't give you percentages of this or that or another thing for the past decade does not make me any less of a fan... it just makes me a different fan.

My point is that I think it is silly to ridicule new fans because they are new to a team. So what... enjoy the game... and be happy you have some fans at all.
I can't wait til RSL has been around a few seasons and they win a cup, or two, just so I can say "Hey you bandwagon fans should not be here cos you were not here the first season..."

Boy I hope that sounds as silly as it was supposed too....

Cheers

You can pick your cougs,
and you can pick your utes,
but you can't put cougs lower than the utes
BECAUSE
The utes have the toots, the chunky chunky toots.

Sheeeesh, I dunno. Maybe if I didn't like you I could do better. But you's my chicka DH!!

BYU against the U?
You just can't compare
The U is so fabulous,
Yes it is rare (like steak sometimes I get even when I order medium well)

If you are blue
through and through
I think that you
are drinking too much Mountain Dew! (sinner, you better call you-know-who!)

Now if you like the school of Red
You are brilliant in your head!
listen now to what I have said!
U Of U is the best since sliced bread! (what was the best thing before sliced bread? anyone???)

Okay Momof8, I have thrown down the official challenge!

Man, I am so good. I could be a rappa girl: (insert rap sounds here) 👏
