Playing experience

I think I saw a thread on this somewhere else once... maybe it was the Utah Jazz forum.

Anyway, since we're trying to put together a "team" and many of us haven't played in years (if at all), I was curious about how much actual playing experience we collectively have.

For me, I played a little of everything growing up, soccer included, both at recess and in rec leagues. I was cut from my high school soccer team at tryouts on the first cut!!! They were one of the worst teams in the state and I still couldn't even make it past first cuts! That's about all the legitimate playing experience I have, unless you count foosball, kicking the ball in the yard, and trying to kick dirty clothes into the hamper.

I've played pretty competitive soccer most of my life up through high school. After high school, I played on teams more recreational in nature until I tore my ACL about 7 years ago. I haven't played since.

And when we practice, the mind knows what it should be doing, but the body has stopped cooperating.

AYSO from age 5 or 6 until I was a junior in high school. I didn't try out for the high school team, which I regret now. I was always a better long distance runner than soccer player so I was involved in cross-country and track.

Wish I had the time to get involved with the "team" now. 🙁

If nothing else, you are more than welcome to show up at practices and kickarounds whenever you can make it. You don't have to be officially on the "team" to do that. We'd love to have you whenever you can show up.

Played rec soccer for about 7 years until I was 14 or 15 and then stopped. I was asked to be on a comp team at about that time, but decided against it. I really didn't feel that I was that great of a soccer player, and I still don't think I was that great of a soccer player (my Mom seems to think otherwise), which is why I stopped. I kinda wish I'd kept it up.

I played AYSO from 5yrs old to about 10. After that I played comp for 2 years. I also played for my school up through my senior year. After that I played on Army Post teams 2 years. Since then, I haven't done much. I've always been good with the ball, but on the sssssllllllllllooooooooooooowwww side.

I played for a YMCA team when I was 11 years old. Our team never won any games. I almost scored a goal, but had a group of defenders gang up on me at the last moment.

Man. All this talk about playing together on a team is driving me crazy! Anybody no of any good teleport technology or ways to get from Cache Valley to Salt Lake faster than driving?
