Week 23 Attendance Metros vs. Wizards 8,765
Dallas vs. San Jose 8,023 Colorado vs. DCU 17,044 RSL vs. NE 17,878 Chivas vs. Columbus 15,770 L.A. and Chicago will play later today, so far RSL is the leader but I think L.A. will outdraw RSL. Those are good numbers for Colorado, did their fans realize that Colorado is in the playoff hunt, or did they show up to see Freddie Adu? Anyone have any idea why Colorado's numbers look respectable for a change? *Home team in bold.

Fireworks. They really like their fireworks in Denver, because that's the only to way to get a big crowd there. Hopefully that changes when they get their new stadium, althought it hasn't worked in Dallas so far (it's still early and PHP still isn't complete). It was also Military Appreciation Night, and I applaud them for doing that. __________________

I wonder how many of those 18,000 fans in RES were school kids with free tickets. That isn't a very encouraging number at all.

At 5-15-4 going into the game, I'm pleased to see more than 10K in attendance. On the first weekend of college football and playing right after the US win over Mexico, 17,878 is respectable even if many were there for free. At least they showed up. Even with the way this season has gone, we're still averaging 18,932. __________________

I saw a lot of RSL shirts and bumper stickers when I was in the UC and at LaVell Edwards Stadium. I wonder how many of those people made it up to SLC for the RSL game. It almost seems to me like soccer is more popular in the UC.

Last, this is Labor Day weekend...most people take this opportunity to go out of town. Also, the Utes sold out on Fri...and BYU had their usual 60k plus on Sat afternoon. Long story short, this was a VERY successful game for RSL at the gate and financially. Sorry for jumping on you, but I really hate knee-jerk reactions...especially when they are uninformed in so many ways.

All in all, I think a pretty good showing. It was the last weekend for family vacations as well. Until "Professional Development Day" (Oct 24th), which is code name for the opening of the deer hunt.

I think they are great numbers. The more people that show up the more people are likely to come back, even if their first ticket was 'free' or 'subsidesed' or whatever you want to call it.
When you see live soccer, you love live soccer. And probably televised as well 🙂
