If the golf tournament was on Wednesday, I'd agree that it's strange for him not to be at practice. However, it's just as possible that he has been on vacation Tuesday-Saturday. What's so far-fetched about that?

What seems more suspicious is if Deuce has asked RSL staff point-blank about Mathis and they have said "No comment." If he was on vacation, they'd say, "He's on vacation." Unless he took some time off to get married, in which case maybe they didn't paparazzi chasing down the limo.

My bet: he's taking the rest of the season to go into rehab for sniffing magic markers too frequently. Just kidding. This is something I don't want to speculate about, and I'll just wait to see what happens. If Clint is gone, I'll be sad to see him go. He added flair and interest to the team on and off the field, and I still maintain it is not all about the number of goals he has or hasn't produced.

Still, that's a lot of salary space eaten up by one player. So my NEW and IMPROVED bet: he's not in rehab. He's getting taken off the roster to make room for Beckham. Beckham decided, "To heck with LA. I'd rather live in Downtown Bountiful." Yep. That's gotta be it.

But seriously, if Clint was being released at this point in the season, it would only make sense that the reason for it was to bring somebody else in, probably somebody who couldn't be afforded otherwise because of salary considerations.

What kind of guarantees does he have for his contract? My *guess* is that a certain amount of that is guaranteed even if he was flat out cut.

Oh, and downtown Bountiful???????

Although he has a had a lackluster year I think that he will be an asset to the team in the upcoming seasons.

I want him to stay.

He's probably in a drunken stupor somewhere. Maybe it is the Bahamas.
