I-15 crash

Sadly, yesterday, a van carrying USU students on a field trip blew a tire and went off of the road. There were 7 students and an instructor killed. 3 others are still hospitalized in serious to critical condition.

To all the RSL fans in the Cache area who may have known some of the victims, my thoughts are with you and the other friends and family members who knew them.

The Utah State Football Team will be wearing a yellow sticker on their helmets in memorium of the fallen. This is tragic, they were too young to die.

Curious if there is any new news on this. Have they determined if their was a mechnical failure with the van?

And I don't want to blame the dead for being dead. Just curious why it seems like non of them were wearing seat belts.

One of the leaders of the LDS Church prayed for these victims in his public prayer during General Conference this weekend.

I believe they have said that excessive speeds played a factor. 95-100 MPH

The van had apparently recently passed its safety inspection. I've also seen it suggested that some of the passengers may have had seat belts on, even though all of them were ejected from the vehicle as it rolled. (Given the number of people in the general population who make it a point to always wear seat belts no matter what, seems unlikely none of them at all wore them.)

Not blaming anyone for the tradegy either, but it has been reported by some sources that they were simply driving far too fast, (one officer reported 95-100 MPH). Very sad.

God bless all the families and friends of the victims as they come to terms with this.
