I don't much care for college soccer, but it does produce some good players and for that alone I think it deserves fan support.

Until MLS started, you could have made the case that NCAA Div I was the highest level of soccer in this country.

I'm not 100% sure that UCLA or Indiana could not have beaten the LA Salsa or the Colorado Foxes.

I was about to say that some guys need college soccer to develop social skills and maturity.

Then I remembered that this is not a 100% guarantee, seeing as we have Mr $200,000 per goal on our team.

The two biggest problems with college soccer are 1) NCAA limits on practices and games, and 2) conservative (Gansler-like) coaching.

I personally also can't stand the timeouts (yes, timeouts) and the logos painted on the field. Call me a purist, but the NCAA should take a good look at FIFA's Laws of the Game and then follow them.

Doesn't BYU have some sort of above par college team? They play Development League or PDL or something right? Anyhow, I think that is the direction a good team should go. College should play better quality soccer and feed more quality players into MLS.

Due to Tital IX restraints, BYU men's soccer plays in the PDL.
Personally I like PDL over College soccer, but overall I like College soccer too.

My Trecker boycott prevents me from reading it. But I can guess the arguments.

Bottom line for me--we need players who can perform as pros from mid-teens on. For those who need more finishing or want the college experience, that option is open.
