Maybe RSL should scout Argentina?

Nice read. I have been very impressed with the team that Nowak has assembled. I envy them.

Bring on the argentinos and the uruguayos, too-- great soccer players, and even MLS salaries don't look too bad to them.
Boca is back on top!

Why not? Plenty of talent to go around and although the best go the Europe there will be players available.

But no floppers please.

If we are looking for lazy, flopping, hand balling showboats, then yeah, let's get few.

Are we seeing a British football bias here?

If so, I completely agree. If not, I say we bring in some more guys who play the British brand of the game.

Is this MLS or NBA your talking about?

I would trade half of RSL for someone like Christain Gomez. He is awesome.

Besides, Ruiz is Guatemalan, not Argentinian. Get it right!
Floppers!?

NEW KID IN TOWN: Alex Swain, a 16-year-old from England, has been invited to train with Real Salt Lake for three weeks beginning this Monday.
Swain is from Stafford, a city north of Birmingham, and he is LDS.
He's interested in possibly playing in Major League Soccer because he doesn't want to play on Sunday. Overseas a lot of league games are played on Sunday.

The forward, who describes himself as being a similar player to Manchester United star Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has been top scorer for his school team for the last five years.

The striker’s scoring exploits for Weston High School and Staffordshire led to Alex being scouted by a family friend who is a member of the Utah-based team’s coaching staff. (Mellor?)

Should qualified referee Alex be successful then he would be given a sports development contract that would involve him playing regularly for the reserve side and attending an American High School until he is 18.

Nice find Arelius. I think getting a Utah based or even Mormon players has got to help RSL's imagine with the community.

Although more important would be that this kid Swain had some sweet skills. Performance is far better marketing tool than where your from or your religion.

I agree...
I think getting effective players will rank more highly in people's minds than their particular religious affiliation. Sure, it's marketing spin, but I don't care if he's a voodoo priest so long as he has mad skill.

I agree. He should be a hit on the fireside circuit, if he makes the team. Moromons do tend to love their professional athletes.
