I read *somewhere* that the Glazers were talking to their rich sports buddy Checketts and decided to send ManU over to SLC for a friendly.
Really you ask? No, I am just making it up. Sorry.

No one believes my rumor. We'll see. Part II of the rumor is that there will be no game D, but season ticket holders will be able to either get comp tickets to the remaining three games with their D ticket or a refund. Or something like that.

I agree with montgjules as to the fact that the cRapids are the official rival, but Chivas is the gut rival. I just remember how low, cheap, and 'typico' they played. Dirty cheetos. dirty dirty.

I actually don't mind Chivas, after all we beat them a couple of times.
I loath Kansas City though. I think their play was cheap and unprofessional.

I think of it as Colorado because of the similarities (in my mind) between SLC and Denver. Denver used to be a place for a potty break on the way to SLC (on the way to Sacramento). Then JJ Brown et al put Denver on the map.

Hmmm ... great question ... I have to say for me I hate them all. Well except New England, I love to watch them play.
But if I had to put my finger on one of the teams ... Chivas. Dirty, diving, cheats. Closely followed by Kansas because the fans are a very nasty bunch and the stadium sucked, the staff were worse, no wait, just as bad, no wait, they just sucked, the stadium was worse, no wait, definately the fans, they smelt of poo.

CRapids, although it's going to take a "memorable moment" to establish the rivalry. Nothing has happened yet like the Kovalenko-Pollard incident for Fire-FCD or the Open Cup PK Shootout and Galaxy playoff collapse for LA-Quakes that got those rivalries going.
Rivalries also require at least some form of respect, and I have none at all for cheetos so they don't qualify. I don't mean you hae to like your rival, but you do have to consider them to be an actual team worthy of game preparation. And you have to want to play your rival--you look forward to those games on the schedule and can't wait to mix it up. The CRapids are our natural rival, so all we need is the great game or big incident to up the intensity. __________________

No. The RMC is great and sets the stage for a rivalry but it's not enough. You can't force these things, like the league has tried to do with the Atlantic Cup. The Atlantic Cup is the trophy presented to the DC United-Metro winner for the year. I never remember anyone in DC caring at all about it when I lived there. I guess you don't have to if you're winning MLS Cups. Not sure what will make CRapids-RSL a rivalry, but we'll know it when we see it. __________________
