Player Evolution Thread

So at the beginning of the season I had my favorite players... but over the course of the year my feelings reguarding some players have evolved. So here is my list of RSL's roster and how my opinion of them has changed similar to your moning stock report(based on both on and off the field conduct)...

Mathis...down (earn the cash... you have shown flashes now do it every game)
Pope...unchanged (still love the guy)
Kreis...up (knew he was good on the field, but he a stud off the it as well)
Williams...up (My new favorite player... he's a class act that owns up to his mistakes and short comings on the field, plus he and his wife a great people around town as well)
Countess...unchanged (why does his defense let him get peppered so badly, he is doing more to control his box or this would be a down)
Besagno...unchanged (you have to see the kid play a bit)
Kamler... up (what a fricken class act... glad he is going to stick around. His wife is awesome as well)
Brown...unchanged (plays solid most of the time, good roll player, but not starter. But I knew that coming in)
Pierce...up (I think everyone who doesn't have him on their team hates him, the man has passion amd he is good when he isn't injured)
Dunseth...unchanged (great in the air, the type of guy I would hand out with if I were single)
Washington...down (Columbus cut him for a reason, I had high hopes that never panned out)
Trembly...unchanged (great energy and effort off the bench)
Fitzpatrick...down (I had hoped he would show us more of what he showed the Trinidad Nats when gave them a good run)
Watson...up (you never know what to expect out of a young kid from college, but he has earned a ton of respect as a soccer abassador on and off the field...)
Akwari...down (I think, Meh... when I hear his name, nice guy though)
Kreamalmeyer...down (he started off with so much promise... not much since)
Cila...unchanged (friendly guy, provides good effort, but mostly just a friendly guy)
Cutler...up (who whould have guys he would pan out as quickly as he has)
Nolly...unchanged (excellent talent, but still needs time to adjust to the level of play)
Flores...unchanged (very nice, had his possition changed, hope he will get a shot in at least one game next year)
Knowles...unchanged (he showed promise in the games he played)
Lookingland...unchanged (which one is he again, sorry but I didn't know who he was when he came, managed to go an entire season without ever really appearing on the radar)
Novak...unchanged (see Lookingland, but Novak is more outgoing as a person)
Gregorio...up (he has been a pleasant suprise about 3 months to late, Dang FIFA transfer rules)
Cabrera..unchanged (the guy can play and is just getting into his prime)
Scarlett...unchanged (Andy said he was good and fast, Andy was right)
Tarley...up (he smoked us so we signed him, to bad we can't grab every player that has made us look like fools over the course of the season, the guy has a lot of hustle)
Broome... unchanged (he should be greatful he isn't a Galaxative anymore, we knew what we were getting)

Wow, nicely done. I am surprised that I really agreed with most everything you said there. I only disagreed with your opinion of Akwari. After the first few games I was pretty down on his game. I think that over the season he has improved and shown that he does have a future on the team. He is an up for me, but maybe just because I was so down on him after a few games.

I vehemently disagree with your assessment of Nelly.

He's improved so much since the beginning of the season that I get a little *verklempt* just talking about him. 🙂

All of our players evolved.

None of them were Intelligently Designed.

I find myself ageeing on a few points but not disagreeing enough to remark on any but two points.

1) Nelly has improved tremendously over the season. I am glad he is still here and i look forward to seeing him next season.

2) Dunseth... When I first met him I thought he was a complete @ss. After reluctantly talking to him several times over the season, I have found that first impressions are not always correct.
I actually look forward to chatting with him at practices and after matches. He is a super guy on and off the pitch. My opinion of him has gone way up! I hope he sticks around.

I agree. He's kinda a smart @ss, and sometimes you don't see that coming when everyone else is... like, sitcom nice. But now I can appreciate the fact that he makes me laugh everytime I see him. (thinking of examples, but realizing maybe they're not appropriate enough to post! :hypocrite )

Dunseth has went down, last night he went running as fast as he could at Adu and Adu just flipped it over his head and Dunseth just responded by trying to kick Adu, and Adu runs right past him. 2-minutes later Adu crosses the ball along the ground and Dunseth jumps into the air and it goes right under his feet...

Freddy made a lot of people look silly last night including Countess, Dunny and Brown so I think it is unfair to single out Dunny's performance.

my $0.02 anyway....

Mathis :: Too expensive; either let him play his game (roaming around in the mid and up top) or cut him loose. He's not a CM.

Pope :: Bring him back next year for the right price. He's a great veteran and a steady player.
Kreis :: He'll be back.
Williams :: I was excited or him but now I see him and think "trade bait" Who can we get for him?

Countess :: RSL's defensive woes aside, it's time to admit that he's not panning out as an MLS starter. Trade him.
Besagno :: He'll be back. Should've have been a #1 draft pick.
Kamler :: Sorry to see him go. he's got skills and can play all over. A good MLS player that didn't look good only cuz folks were expecting world class. Brown :: Too many people have bagged on this guy. We need him back next year.
Pierce :: Injuried for too long during yet another year. We've got Cabrera. Do we need him back?
Dunseth :: Trade him
Washington :: I wasn't big on him to start with and I'm looking forward to seeing him cut loose.
Trembly :: Reminds me of a two-bit Gattusso and I like him for it. But yet another year under he's belt and he's still a marginal MLS starter. I hate to say it but I'm not sure I want to see him back. 🙁
Fitzpatrick :: bring him back. I know folks expected mroe and he hasn't quite been up to it this year. But I think it's a matter of adjustment.
Watson :: He's still a kid and needs to learn to get knocked around witha few less spills. But he's a fighter and pest up top. And he can SPRINT ALL GAME LONG. The kind of player other teams hate. Keep him. He's learning and will produce more next year.
Akwari :: See Countess comments.
Kreamalmeyer :: Kreme's just a pup and has a lot to learn. NOt sure if he'll be around next year but I wouldn't mind.
Cila :: Trade him, cut him loose. He's not good enough to be an MLS starter. And RSL needs more size up top. It's either him or Watson (Kries is a given) and I'd rather see Jordan go. Still may be good enough and young enough to use in a trade.
Cutler :: Gotta see the fiesty redhead back next year. He'll look a lot better when he gets partnered up with a true CM.
Nolly :: Keep him. I think he's better at organziing the D and still could cut it in the league. But I'd rather see him on the bench next year behind a more experienced league vet like one of the 3 the Crew have (and surely will be looking to give up 1 this summer)
Flores :: dev player so we'll probably see him again.
Knowles :: Is he worth bringing back? I'm not sure
Lookingland :: Is he worth bringing back? I'm not sure
Novak :: I hope to see him back next year.
Gregorio :: I hope to see him back next year.
Cabrera :: Worth having as an SI. Can actually make some passes to RSL players out of the back. Will look even better next year with a revamped RSL midfield.
Scarlett :: I hope we have a 2nd choice waiting in the wings. He's struggling to make a decent cross more often than not. The team needs width badly. He can bring it. I hope he steps up.
Tarley :: I hope he's back. He's young and got loads of talent. he's big and strong and has great acceleration. I think part of his problem right now is he's just trying too damn hard.
Broome :: I hope he's back again next year, also.
