Here's another good picture of the jersey. It is a lot darker than the MLSNet picture.

Is there some way the fan groups could get the jerseys before the public? I think that would be a great way of saying thank you to the fans. Maybe someone who is friendly with the front office could ask.

THanks. That looks a lot better than the one they had tossed up on the web site friday. That one looked too bright. I like the red. I'm also glad for the away jersey they went with "Salt Lake" again.

...that just looks so much better.

Am I the only one though that thinks the front of the neck looks funky? That is the only thing buggin' me about the uniforms. It's cut so that it leaves a couple of flaps on the side and then is lower right in the front. Jamie is wearing a white t-shirt under the jersey so it doesn't look so bad but without the t-shirt it would look weird, like a piece of the front has been ripped out. The blue needs to continue all the way around like a ring t-shirt.

I don't know, I'm never happy it seems. I'm just a freak like that.
Love the badge. Love the colors. The collar's weird, but I can get over it. I kinda think the red "fangs" or whatever they are look funny on the shorts, even if they are an extension of the blue on the jersey. That's my only complaint, and that's not too bad!

OK, so does anyone know what the difference (other than $15) will be between the replica and authentic jerseys?

Great news about the long sleeve - I might have to go with a long sleeve #7 jersey for the '06 season. 🙂

I'm for sure getting a long sleeve, I've been waiting for years to get one of those 😉

My previous experience with Adidas jerseys (the Argentine National Team home jersey, to be specific): back in 2002 I compared a replica and an authentic jersey side by side. The replica jersey had an embroidered patch, stitched-on stripes on the shoulders, and the material was a little coarser and thicker.

The authentic jersey seemed to have no stitching whatsoever, except between different cuts of material (torso to sleeve). The AFA logo was screen-printed (I think) like the numbers are on professional jerseys. Very slick. The shoulder stripes were the same. The material was amazingly soft and quite thin. Basically, the authentic jersey felt less like a shirt with a bunch of crap slapped on it and more like a complete and simple piece of athletic equipment.

Having said that, I am very impressed with my 1st-year RSL jerseys. I'm not sure how close they are to "authentic" but it seems to me that the quality of the RSL jerseys is higher than the 2002 replica Argentina jersey.

I can say the extra $15 will probably be worth it, although I would wonder about the durability of the jersey, seeing as how it may be designed for just a few soccer matches, or even just one. I buy my jerseys to play in, so this is a concern for me. For others, this may be a non-issue. I am super stoked to get my long-sleeve home jersey sometime later this year, though!

For those who signed up for the jersey at the draft party, they're the authentic ones.
