Yes, that's right, Real Salt Lake not only gave Mathis the big contract, they guaranteed it for three seasons, meaning they are stuck with Mathis through 2007.

???????

Now their only hope is that Mathis snaps out of his prolonged funk and finds the dangerous form he showed as recently as 15 months ago in Germany. Nobody in Utah is holding their breath for that one.
I know I am.

Ives really hasn't had any thing good to say about us all year.

Wow....that sucks. So, is it true what he says about Mathis???? That goes against everything I have been hearing. And I am holding my breath also, so that proves the guy wrong. πŸ˜‰

This guy has little credibility with me--I've read too much of his stuff.

And I doubt if he could find Utah on a map, let alone has been here enough to make judgements about us as fans, let alone the team.

However, he does give some insight into how the eascoastsoccermedia looks at RSL. He gets enough right for anyone outside of the situation to believe him. And it's worth looking at a critical view, since, let's face it, we have had a 5-22-5 season.

Go Metro.

I agree. There's a lot of truth in the article, but some of the conclusions are not really all that sure.

We did have a really, REALLY losing season, but in some ways it's not as bad as he makes it out. As we stand now, at the end of the season, the team really doesn't look all that bad. As I see it, we just have two main problems left; conditioning, and finishing. Both are serious, but both can be dealt with.

I am extremely hopeful for next year.

Ya, Ives hasn't had much good to say about the team. But why? Geez, could it be that there hasn't been much good to say about the team since the Spring?!??!???!?!?? Seriously, what good has happened since then?

Fire Ellinger!

Seriously, with the amount of parity in the MLS, there's not reason why we shouldn't have had 30+ points this year.

We're the laughing stock of the league right now. No fancy stadium in the suburbs is going to cover that up. And if the team doesn't become competitive, that fancy new stadium in the suburbs is going to be empty.

Thats rather odd, according to things I have read from the FO, Mathis's contract was only for this season. Guaranteed that is.

I thought only Sergio Galvan Rey ever had a guaranteed contract.
