Ellinger interview 10/18 Pastorino is in for Coach.
Coach is in England scouting will be meeting with coach in Hannover. Meeting with agents, teams, players… 1st priority will be midfield to tie the field together – attacking mid. We need help in all areas, defenders strongest with some depth. Midfield needs help and more scoring. PK asks about contracts – international transfer windows. We are looking at the Jan. window this year. Transfer means buy a contract. Very few contracts expire at the end of the year, most in the spring. Difference between trades and transfers. Some players want to get away from the lights and are looking for a place to play without cameras in their faces. Quality of life, American citizenship, vacation, tax purposes, Perhaps get some players on loan, youngsters to get playing time. Perhaps with buy options at the end of the loan. Checketts talked about raising cap, what are the odds? We lose CONCACAF players for months for World Cup, Americans want to play or Bruce doesn’t see them. Americans who are sitting may want to come home to get noticed. There are some that have said they want to play for Jon at some point, is this the time? DJ? attendance and season ticket holders – 2nd in league, top 5 first year marks in league Excited about stadium without lines, gripes about Sandy, most will come anyway. Hold off whining until you see the plans and how it is going to be paid for. PK What about long-term attendance? Major league not AAA. Convinced we can keep it going despite sophomore slump trends. We have some stuff coming next year to keep people coming, Pledge for better product and thanks for your support. Reminder of Goats Lite game on the 28th. PS I think my shorthand was better this time. __________________

Better shorthand... but can you elaborate on this? Our players want to play where there are no cameras? Or players that don't want cameras want to play here?

Stucki deserves some dancing produce.
I think that players don't mind cameras per se but they don't like the "When did you stop beating your wife" outlook of the European & South American media. Pastorino could have said, "Help Is On The Way!".

Is this shorthand or babelfish?

He mentioned that foreign players may want to come here towards the ends of their carreer due to the fact that the quality of life is good, a bit of a vacation from the rigors of play in their own countries (though Steve P. mentioned that they'd be in for a rude awakening) and tax purposes. So Coach E will look for those types of players, as well as young players on loan, and US players abroad who want to get playing time (who currently sit more often than they play) so that Arena can see how good they are in time for the World Cup team.
Should be interesting. __________________

Your shorthand is way better than mine ever would be. Thanks for the report. I was wondering too if there was any news on DJ. Wasn't he supposed to have an MRI on his shoulder? Thanks again for taking the time to do this.

DJ in this case refers to David James, the sports guy for Channel 2, and 1280 the zone.
Aerick elaborated nicely on the guys at the end of their careers wanting to come here away from the glare and contstant attention on them and their families. JLL also had a nice take on it. I love the on demand feature from the zone. __________________
