Stadium Sponsors & Nicks?

Well we have a location debate... 😉
Now we should start debating possible sponsors and possible nicks for the stadium.

Anyone want to venture any guesses who a stadium corporate sponsor might be?

There is the obvious w/ Earl Holding coming aboard recently!
Sinclair Oil and/or Grand America

A company I thought of last night that could possibly be a big sponsor is Novell in Provo!

Any other suggestions ppl might have as to sponsorship possibilities?

My nickname ideas have been posted on other threads but I will compile them here.
Only the first 1 of these is one I thought of... the other is one I had heard a long time ago and liked. I hope I am not stepping on any toes by posting that idea here. I will leave it to other people that have posted previous ideas on this and other forums to put forth their ideas... I don't want to steal people's ideas.
So if you posted an idea for a nick on another forum post it here as well.

Parliament!
Courthouse!

That is all I can think of at the moment!

But I know you all have some so let's get er done!!!

It would appear that the city block in question is Block 22. Checketts referred to it that way the other day in a Des News article.

Block 22 could work well as a nickname.

We could play of our Real (Royal) name and call it “The Palace.”

👍

If they name it the Grand Real Stadium (as in the drawing), we can call it the "ReAL Grand". Huh, huh? 😉

I just realized that Grand Real Stadium is probably a play on Grand America Hotel, which is next door. Could that be a hint that the owner of Grand America will be sponsoring the stadium?

🙂

I certainly thought of that possibility, too. But it probably wouldn't happen unless they choose the SLC site.

but it could be the reason the SLC site happens as well.

Holding has money to spare... if Checketts really sells him on the idea.

According to Forbes the guy is worth 1.2 billion.

other Utahns with spare cash...
James Sorenson... 2.7 billion
Jon Huntsman (not the Governor... his Dad) 2.5 billion

If you put those three together you have 1.4 billion more than Uncle Phil Anschutz (the sap is only worth 5 billion).

An interesting tidbit is that Checketts was Holding’s Bishop in a former LDS ward… So, they obviously know each other.
