Possible new RSL players?

No I don't know if there are any new players yet for the 2006 season, but I wanted to start a new thread for all rumors or suggestions.

First off there are all the trialists currently at RSL.
Player Pos. Ht. Wt. Birthdate Hometown
Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar MF 5-11 160 04/06/1977 Guadalajara, Mexico
Atiba Harris D/M 6-2 185 01/09/1985 St. Kitts and Nevis
Hwang Ho-Ryung M/F 5-10 159 10/15/1984 Korea
Nathaniel Lamptey M/F 5-8 160 07/07/1983 Ghana
Josiah Seton FW 5-11 175 03/23/1979 Liberia
Khari Stephenson MF 6-2 185 01/18/1981 Kingston, Jamaica
Daniel Torres DF 5-11 158 10/14/1977 Costa Rica
Joey Worthen DF 6-1 185 12/03/1979 Salt Lake City, Utah

Torres sounds like the best of these so far.

See this thread for more info: http://realsaltlake.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2627

Also, Hannover 96's GK Frank Juric has been mentioned as a possible transfer, though I doubt RSL will spend an SI on the GK position, with USA rather good at that position.

Some other possibles are GK Adin Brown or FW Paulo Dos Santos both formerly of the Revs:

They are leaving their Norwegian club and looking for a new team.

Any other ideas out there?

There is a young Argentinian player by the name of Nigel (Something or other), that has really been shining in practice.

He is Argentinian by birth but one parent is American so he is considered a domestic player.

He has a game head... very smart player that always seems to be in the right place... even if no one can get the ball to him... he is where he should be. Sudden bursts of speed and has some seriously smooth and deceptive ball handling skills.
The only down side is that he is not a big player. I have only seen him pushed off the ball once but he is scrappy and just took it right back.
He seems to be keenly aware of his surroundings and has an incredibly potent one touch pass.

I think this kid is going to be amazing...

Thanks for the scoop, Deuce.

How are Khari + Torres looking? I question those 2 the most cuz they've been in the league before. Torres was with the Crew for a couple years. I don't know why he left. Maybe more money back at Saprissa? If so, why leave. And what does it mean for Broome assuming Torres plays on the left? Would we sign Torres as trade bait fo Sampson?

And Khari, I'm more skeptical since the kid had a couple years in KC to make it but couldn't cut it. That doesn't mean he's not a better player, I'm just a bit skeptical.

Deuce, if you ever get more info on this Argentine Nigel, that would be excellent new info. But thanks for what you found so far.

I agree with prk166, any updates on the other trialists?

Finally, I think the Khari is a good player that would be an upgrade, at least, on the RSL bench.

I figured out who Wright was. He is a Brit trying to get a trial with RSL.

Deuce will probably have to answer your second question.

I just went to Deuce's blog and got this:

http://rsldeuce.blogspot.com/
Of the 10 or more prospects that practiced with RSL over the past month, only three remained in practice at the final RSL practice on Tuesday.
The three remaining “trialists” were local boy Joey Worthen, recently arrived from Richmond Kickers, Jamaican, Khari Stephenson and Costa Rican, Daniel Torres.
Read into that what you will. I will leave it to all of you to debate the implications.
