I've known about this for a few days and I am very excited.
This South Florida team will play in Hialeah a burb of Miami and will play in the USL D1 aka A-League.

Finally, after 3 years, Florida will have some pro soccer again.

Am I the only one worried about the a-league shrinking again? Gret to see FC Miami but I'm worried about the overall health of the league.

First off, its the USL First Division now, they got rid of the A-League name in 2004.

Second, the "A-League/USL D1" didn't shrink. Richmond Kickers went to Division 2 and Miami came in to replace them in Division 1.

Status quo.

The Kickers have not folded. They went down from USL Division 1 to USL Division 2.

I can think of songs by the Dire Straits, but basically, USL First Div's new system of Single Table required all teams to play every other team aka the way the rest of the world does it.
For team's like the Richmond Kickers, it was too expensive and they basically went broke trying to keep up with the costs of travel for the team.

With their drop to the Second Divsion, Richmond's costs will be much lower, mostly because 2nd Div is a Mid-Atlantic league, so the travel costs are much lower.

So basically, for Joey Worthen, he is sort of right. No way they can afford a player like him any more, so the Kickers are dead to him. Which means he is free pickings for a team like RSL. 🙂

Let me know if you have any other USL questions.
