👍 A very interesting article. It points out that peoples perceptions about the league may take a long while yet to change. It comes from years of actually being an inferior soccer nation. It will take years to overcome the reputation. I don't think that the answer is to import more latino players. I think the answer is to play more latino teams, making sure we are playing their best, not there third string, and beating them fair and square. We have to prove that we ARE competetive. It simply has to be done again and again. Gradually the perception and reputation will change.
People may be aware of all the FACTS, but the FEELINGS (the filter through which those facts have to travel to affect their beliefs and perceptions) can take years to change and need many repetitions before any change can take place. __________________

Three words: W...T...F. I understand how Euro soccer fans might find MLS boring, but Mexican fans? Here's a page I stole out of the Mexican soccer rule book:
1. No shooting allowed from outside the 6 yard box. 1b. Addendum: Extra points will be awarded to the team that succeeds in actually dribbling the ball into the opponent's goal. 1c. Addendum: Shooting outside the 6 will be allowed in dead ball situations. However in those cases, the shot must either hit the wall or reach orbit. 2. Any player entering the opponent's 18 yard box must immediately crumple to the ground. This will be followed by said player performing a Shakespearian tragedy on the ground for a minimum of 5 minutes or until a penalty kick is awarded and a card is shown. 2b. Addendum: The opposing team must follow the performance by arguing with the referee for an additional 5 minutes. Players should watch Jerry Springer daily for training on how to properly conduct said argument. 3. Should a team find itself ahead by any margin at any stage of the game, said team shall be required to play 11 men behind the ball, preferrably with all 11 inside the 18 yard box. Mexican soccer SUCKS! If only their fans would get over their prejudices against MLS they'll enjoy a much better game.

heya!
I read the article, well... I have to say, I disagree and disagree with some of the things on this article. I agree that "There's the perception outside the league, in Mexico and other countries, that the league is not very competitive, but it is," The thing is that here in Mexico there are so many teams that don't have 2 or 3 years existing, but 30 or 60 years! So, I'll call it a traditional way of thinking. Still, the mls is growing and every league should watch out for it, just give it a couple of years, more fans will come and the league eventually will grow!! Lets say, we are the beginning of the future! :dancing: I also read the Mexican soccer rules… Those made me laugh… lets face it, they should win an oscar every single match! Take care :signrocko And GO real!

This isn't a suprise. It's the old no cookin' is as good as mom's cookin' kind of thing. Things just seem better from back home, especially when you're far away from them.
Plus, well, considering how much more money the MFL has to spend + the long history of pro soccer in Mexico, it probably is a better product. __________________
