Well, the giant banner on the Soccer Locker was on the Fox 13 news tonight.

But that's not exactly good news.

There was a stabbing this morning during a game there & you could see the banner in the background as a Murray police officer was being interviewed about it.

On a brighter note I had my first RSL sighting in Cache Valley!!!

I was getting situated for a workshop on campus and across the table is a guy in a blue RSL hat! Dialog goes roughly as follows:

Me: "Nice hat."
Hat Person: "Nice scarf."
Me: "Did you get season tickets yet?"
HP: "No, did you?"
Me: "Yep, that's where the scarf came from."

I then proceeded to tell him about the payment plan and what not.

It's the first day of class, and I feel like it's the last! I don't think grades are going to go very well this semester :D

This morning Bob Lonsberry, aka the Mormon Phil Hendrie, threw his support behind the SL stadium proposal. Now there are a lot of conservatives walking around thinking soccer in SL is a good thing.

saw some guy walking around wearing a chivas jacket today, although not Real Salt Lake, but I'm sure he'll be attending games which is a plus for Real SL just the same

Was at work yesterday and saw for the first time (that was not at an RSL or Loyalist event) someone else wearing a red RSL hat.

I struck up a conversation and told him about the Loyalists and the forums...
He seemed very interested so hopefully we will see him sign on and join soon.

Not really a sighting... but... on the way home on the Trax I was standing, as you do when it is 5:15 and you are heading south...
I was wearing my scarf and lapel pin as usual... and overheard a couple of guys talking about my scarf... one of the guys was explaining to the other, what it was all about and he mentioned Clint Mathis and the downtown stadium location...

I didn't join the conversation because I never felt like it was an appropriate moment to do so, so i just listened in and grinned alot. The one guy seemed pretty knowlegable of the team...
Way Cool!

Channel 4's sports show had some tape of the tryouts.

They said that Ellinger said that there were a couple of players that he wanted to see more of.

Mundo Hispano newspaper mentioned that RSL players were at last Saturday's Zion's Bank event.

There will be some in-depth coverage of the tryouts on realsaltlake.org, realsoccernews.com, or saltlake.matchnight.com soon. Those are all the same site by the way... But check back sometime soon for everything you never knew you wanted to know about the tryouts!

I shot all of that footage... it was supposed to be a significantly longer segment with sound bites and such, but I got back and they had changed the rundown 😲 But, I will take every second that they give me...

Okay, who was it at the BYU volleyball game?

I'm not sure if it was live or delayed, but I think it was live.... tonight I was watching a BYU volleyball game on TV (bedrest gets reeeeaaaalllly boring at times) and after game #2, I saw somebody in the background holding up an RSL scarf! Unfortunately I only caught a glimpse of it before the camera angle changed (I had been looking at something else so it may have been on camera for a while). I kept waiting for the camera to shift back but it never did.

However, I thought I might have seen somebody who looked a little like Loyal1 for half a second... couldn't tell. Jake, was that you?? Loyal1?? Who else lives in the UC and might be at BYU games? Good work to whoever it was!! Woohoo!!
