A little write up on this:
U.S. finalizes exhibition game at Germany December 14, 2005 CHICAGO (AP) -- The U.S. soccer team's planned March 22 exhibition game at Germany has been finalized, giving the Americans a chance to play in the World Cup host country three months before the tournament. Germany's soccer federation announced the game nine months ago, but the U.S. Soccer Federation wouldn't confirm the game until Wednesday, after the contract was signed last weekend. The game at Westfalenstadion in Dortmund is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. EST). "As we experienced in the preparation for the 2002 World Cup, the chance to play in the host country before the tournament will be an invaluable experience for our team," said U.S. coach Bruce Arena, whose team played at South Korea in December 2001. Arena's first win as U.S. coach was 3-0 over Germany in an exhibition on Feb. 6, 1999, at Jacksonville, Fla. In the last meeting between the teams, the Germans won 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup. The Americans open their 2006 schedule on Jan. 22 against Canada at San Diego, play Norway seven days later at Carson, Calif., then face Japan on Feb. 10 at San Francisco. They plan to play Feb. 19, likely against Guatemala at Frisco, Texas, and are looking to find a nation to play in Europe on March 1, a date set aside by FIFA for national team exhibition games. They also are trying to schedule several exhibition games at home in late May. At the World Cup, the United States opens June 12 against the Czech Republic at Gelsenkirchen, plays Italy five days later at Kaiserslautern and closes the first round June 22 against Ghana at Nuremberg. | |||||

Any chance of SLC seeing one of those domestic exhibitions in April or May?

They would never risk injuries on the field turf that soon before the cup. The ball handles different as well, and wouldn't be the best if you're fine tuning the team. And I doubt people are willing to fit another bill to put temporary sod down for an exhibition. I'd love to see them here again, but don't think it'll happen until 2008 (CONCACAF semifinal round qualifier in a brand new stadium maybe???)

I completely agree. I wasn't thinking that he meant before the World Cup. But its possible that RES could host something later in 2006 or 2007.

Um, I don't want to sound like a heretic here, but there is a rather large stadium in Utah with real grass in it. Is there anything that says RES has to host? Not that it's a possibility...That School Down There turned down qualies before, if I remember right.
