RSL's 2006 Roster

Well with the WC and such next season I think we should just figure out how this is going to work.

1)Gone for WC '06 for sure:
Douglas Sequeira (Costa Rica)

2)Potential Be-goners:
Eddie Pope (USA)
Daniel Torres (Costa Rica)
Tiger Fitzapatrick (T&T)

3)On a national team, but most likely won't be going:
Diego Walsh (Brazil)
Jeff Cunningham (USA)

4)Team didn't make WC '06:
Robert Scarlett (Jamaica)
Gustavo Cabrera (Guatemala)

Considering everybody on the first three lists go (worst case scenario):
We have the following players:
Nelson Akwari D
Nikolas Besagno M
Paul Broome D
Chris Brown M
Gustavo Cabrera D
Jordan Cila F
Kenny Cutler M
Sergio Flores D
Scott Garlick GK
Adolfo Gregorio M
Christian Jimenez M
Cameron Knowles D
Luke Kreamalmeyer M
Jason Kreis F
Michael Lookingland D
Jay Nolly GK
Kevin Novak M
Robert Scarlett M
Carey Talley M-D
Melvin Tarley F
Seth Trembly M
Jamie Watson F
Andy Williams M
Noah Palmer GK

Likely Starting lineup (4-4-2):

---------------Garlick
-Torres-Cabrera-Akwari-Broome
---------------Cutler
--Brown-----------------Scarlett
--------------Williams
---------Kreis-------Tarley

Subs:
D-Lookingland/Knowles/Talley

M-Novak/Kreamalmeyer/Trembly/Jiminez/Gregorio/Besagno

F-Watson/Cila

GK-Nolly/Palmer

I put Talley as a D because with only Lookingland/Knowles as subs we were looking really weak defensively. I also think that in a short time, Besagno will take Cutler's spot as D-mid when Sequeira is gone.

With our first-round pick in the draft we are projected to pick a Defender, which makes sense. The most likely picks (assuming CHV takes neither) are Nate Sturgis (CB) and Marvell Wynne (RB), but of course if CHV takes neither Marvell Wynne is the obvious choice.

Fortunately, I think Cunningham will be playing for RSL most of the season and will be watching the WC with you guys at Iggys.

I think we might end up seeing Besagno as a central defender before we see him at d-mid. He played well in the back against Italy in the U17 tourney.

I talked with someone at the FO yesterday who told me the schedule is going to be SPRING HEAVY, meaning most games will be in the spring.

I don't think he meant that the season was going to be over in May, SP... they could load up on Wednesday night games early in the season instead of playing as frequently during the World Cup, could they not?

Where are you guys hearing about this "Spring Heavy" schedule? I haven't read about it anywhere but in this thread.

But yes, they could have more Wed games but I cannot believe MLS would be crazy enough to do that. Even in SLC the attendance is much lower. MLS would get higher attendance on a WC Saturday than on a Spring Wednesday, that much is certain.

It certainly doesn't sound like MLS is doing a different schedule this year:

I'm just speculating, based on what edaw said.

I'm not saying whether or not it's a verified fact or anything, so chillez-vous...

It looks like this is where everyone is hearing it.

At MLS Cup Supporters Summit, Don Garber said that they (the league) would try to spread the season out in such a way that it would be a lighter schedule during the world cup...
He did not specify if it would be spring or fall that would absorb the extra games but I would speculate that it would be spring due to college and/or pro pointy ball.

I have not heard anything other than Don Garber's statement and edaw33 sharing what he has heard.
