Hmmmm... or maybe it's just not as simple as saying turf is bad for knees?
http://www.soccer365.com/EUROPEAN_NEWS/Rest_of_Europe/page_109_114407.shtml Finally, looking ahead to the MLS season, because of your age and the injuries you’ve had in the past, are you concerned with playing on the artificial surface at Rice-Eccles for Real Salt Lake? I’ve been playing on turf since New York, so it’s not even an issue for me anymore. I don’t even think about it. My knees were pretty bad before I got to the turf, and for some reason, it got better on the turf. I don’t know how to explain it. I don’t know if it’s the pounding, and then the healing, and then your body just adjusts and overcompensates – I don’t know. It’s made my knees better, though. I was really surprised. Some guys hate it – I’m so used to training on it every day, it’s a non-issue. I’m happy. __________________
