That shows you that it all depends on who you talk to. If you talk to the guy where his team failed financially and didn't catch on, of course he's going to be bitter about the progress of soccer in the area. But, when you talk to someone who ran a successful operation he's optimistic.

Maybe that's why Mr. Success (Chris Agnello) is now part of the RSL family and Mr. Freezzzz is not.

Yeah, but the main reason he didn't get a lot of people paying to see his team is because it was INDOOR soccer; Human Pinball; an entirely different game. Who'd pay to see that? Well of course some people would. But the soccer most people think of is OUTDOOR. There is no comparison with the beautiful game.

For the record, I e-mailed Brad Rock to thank him for the fairness of the article, to ask him to give RSL a chance by checking MLS out in person, and to let him know that it's "Galaxy," not "Galaxie." He e-mailed right back, thanking me and generally proving to be a class guy. I'm as guilty as anyone in assuming that the typical sportswriter in the U.S. is a like Tony Kornheiser--an unreconstructed soccer-basher--but that's not fair. There are plenty of them out there, but I'd rather praise the one's who give the game a chance than fire off nasty-grams to the one's who don't.

I agree with you. Yelling at the idiots won't make them any less idiotic, but praising the fair ones, may encourage fairness. 😎

If you read Rock's column where he makes cracks at various news bites he throws soccer related news in there quite often. The first one I saw really got to me, but then I got over it. Now I find him amousing...for the most part.

I emailed Brad Rock the other day thanking him for a positive article and believe it or not he emailed me back this morning.

Rock rocks.
