Meet Atiba Harris

Atiba Harris comes from the smallest nation in the Western Hemisphere (just a little bigger than Washington, DC). It gained its independence only in 1983. It's entire national population is less than that of Bountiful, Utah. I'm sure he's got the whole island pulling for him.

(By the way, Alexander Hamilton, the first United States Secretary of the Treasury, was born there.)

Harris has already played in the in the Primera Liga in Spain for Cadiz when he was 19 yrs. old.

Before that, he was at Newcastle United in the English Premier League but he couldn't play in England because he didn't fill the minimum requirement of international games.

At Newcastle, they referred to him as youth version of Patrick Vieira.

Its too bad he had to miss the carnival season back home. If we really want to make him feel at home, we will bring some steelpans to the games and play some calypso music.

Here's a picture of Harris when he was still at Elco St. Peters FC in St. Kitts and Nevis.

There's actually a really good steel drum band in the music dept down at the Y. I'm sure they would love to play if you guys were to have a big bbq or something. They are called Panoramic Steel. http://bands.byu.edu/ensembles/percussion.html

There's also a family steel drum band called Pan Jam. http://cfac.byu.edu/music/Music_and_the_Family/Panjam.php

If that's even halfway true, then we got ourselves a steal and a player we'll be glad to have on our team.

St. Kevis & Nitts.

Might be St. Nevits & Kitts.

I sure that I spelled at least one wrong.

The guy who runs the steel drum groups is a good friend. He studied with the masters in the islands.

If that's even a 1/10th true the boys too good for the MLS. 🙂

I can't wait to see him play for myself. I'm just happy that some player was playing too rough against DC United and Nowak complained. That was great. Hey Piotr, miss your lil' thug boy Dema that much already?!?!?!?

Plus it's just really fun to say "Attiba"

Yes, that's probably more accurate.

It is St. Christopher and Nevis, although Christopher was changed to Kitts a very long time ago.

Sorry, geography and history geek strikes again.
