Pre-season

I remember a few weeks ago there was a poll about the wins during preseason...did they mean anything...I remember thinking well wins are nice but they really don't matter, especially after last pre-season. BUT that said I have to admit that the team's recent form has been a bit of a concern for me. The past few games there haven't been the wholesale changes at half time and they have still been losing. I guess the wins were nice but I took them with a grain of salt...the loses they are harder to swallow...Anybody else concerned about their current form with all of the starters on the pitch?

You have to remember, this is the end of pre-season. There have been a lot of wins in comparisons to the number of losses. As several of the guys have said, they are tired and are ready for a few days off so their batteries can recharge. It doesn't mean they are not fit, it just means your body can only take so many days without a break. In my opinion, I wouldn't worry over the last couple of losses. RSL as a strong team on and off the field this year.

At this point it is hard to know exactly what is going on...

As discussed after the Chivas game, RSL supposedly looked slow and unfit...but, it turns out that RSL had full practices the days before...no rest...so that may have caused the problem. Who knows...

One concern I do have is that the team has done the majority of its conditioning at sea level...this just in, RES is not anywhere near sea level. I hope Ellinger has a plan to get the team well condtioned at altitude so we can take advantage of sea level teams losing their legs late in the game.

If there's one thing RSL fans should know well by now, it's that preseason records are no indication of performance when it counts. And also, we need to be realistic about expectations. Let's pretend that our preseason record DOES indicate how we'll perform this season. What are we now, about 7-5-0? Hell, after last season I'd be more than happy with that kind of record. So no, I'm not worried at all.

And if we drop our season opener to the goats I still won't be worried. I think Chivas is going to finish around 3rd in the west this year - that's a way improved team. I think the teams missing the playoffs will be Colorado and somebody else, maybe Dallas.
