Soccer shootout
Pulses quickened and temperatures rose at the County Council this week when Councilman/venture capitalist Mark Crockett told Real Salt Lake owner Dave Checketts he wanted "numbers, not platitudes."
"Cost overruns will be our responsibility - if that's what you're worried about," Checketts said about his $45 million public-money request for a Sandy stadium.
"I'm worried about being sure we have a good return on our investment," Crockett countered. "I don't think that's such an unreasonable request."
Then things got tense.
"Frankly, it doesn't sound like your attitude is about facts," Checketts charged.
Said Crockett: "Make whatever judgment you like, Dave."
"I will," the owner reacted.

When my mother was pregnant with me they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later they discovered that I had reabsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.

I'm thinking I need to find a good salt-n-pepper wig and fake mustache for a game or three.


ANd it's good to see more information coming out on some of the stadium stuff. If I'm catching it right, most of the money for the hotel tax would actually being going into public infrastructure improvements, correct?

If my understanding is correct, the money will go towards the land and infrastructure improvements. Not a dime of the money will be spent on the actual stadium or any of the buildings themselves.
