Bad News for Houston, Other MLS Rumors - 29MAR06 MLS rumors from CNN/SI:
Red Bull has two open spots. Coach Mo Johnston is eyeing three targets, with Colorado F Jean Phillippe Peguero on the radar. -- New York Post (If Red Bull gets Peguero, Colorado is screwed...) Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber said another team "in the Midwest" will be added in 2008. St. Louis is considered the strongest candidate. -- Los Angeles Times (Lots of expansion...good or bad???) Major League Soccer soon will announce new television contracts with ABC, ESPN and Univision. These will take effect in 2007 and will include "the first rights fees that MLS, and I believe professional soccer, has ever had from major network broadcasters," he said. -- Los Angeles Times (FINALLY...) The Dynamo will host the Colorado Rapids on Sunday in what will be Houston's debut in Major League Soccer, and word out of the Dynamo ticket office is that sales of season tickets barely have cracked the 2,000 mark. On Tuesday, total tickets sold for the match, including season and individual-game tickets, hovered "in the low teens," Dynamo president Oliver Luck said. -- Houston Chronicle (After all the hubbub surrounding the name, you'd hope that more people would support the team...how does AEG feel now???) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/03/29/truth.rumors.soccer/index.html ⚽ Geoff ----------------------- REGULATORS! Come on Cila for Peguero! Come on Cila for Peguero!
IF this happens, I'll be laughing all the way to the Rocky Mtn Cup! __________________
When my mother was pregnant with me they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later they discovered that I had reabsorbed the other fetus. Do I regret this? No. I believe his tissue has made me stronger. I now have the strength of a grown man and a little baby.

Considering Dedi and Noel combined outscored FSL in all the Rocky Mountain Cup matches last year 3-2 (And one of your goals was by now-Rapid Clint Mathis), I don't think we'll have to worry about the RMC. Of course, we will end up finishing 5th in the West without Peguero (Hell, at the rate things are going, we'll probably finish 5th WITH Peguero) just in front of FSL but out of the playoffs.

Well, part of that is that thanks to the leagues wonderful scheduling, they crammed 3 of the 4 games into all of 3 weeks or so. Tarley, who had beat the Rapids 4-1 in the USOC, couldn't seem to buy a goal. And Kries was out with injury. Anyway, I wouldn't be suprised to see JPP shipped out. I think Clavijo is drooling over his new Argentine and would rather ship off a young, upcoming player with decent numbers last year than risk losing, overweight, overpaid veterans like Kirovski and Mathis. 🙂 __________________
