Ok, I know this is a stupid poll, but after last night, I don't know how many more of those kinds of games I can stomache.

Depends on how many wins go in between. Right now 7 losses seems bad, but it depends on whether your 7th loss comes in May or October.

To me it all depends on the type of loss. I cannot handle many more losses like yesterday's. If we happen to show up to play, play well, and play our style and we happen to be outclassed and beat (even by a wide margin) then I have no real problem with that. When over half of our passes are suspect, our boys aren't running after balls (they're just watching them), and our defense is so porous that it couldn't strain manicotti, we never came to play. And yes, I have a BIG problem with that, just like Larry Miller had with his bouncy-ball team a few days ago.

These guys did not do their job. If I was Checketts, I would be threatening them with breach-of-contract lawsuits and pay cuts unless/until they get their act together. I feel like we lost this game more than Chivas won it.

Maybe we could start the reserve team next week. Of course, just because our reserve team can beat our starters doesn't necessarily mean they can beat anyone else's starters...

I like to play soccer, and I know what it's like to get the snot kicked out of me (literally even, don't ask). I know how demotivating it is to lose a nice ball, make a bad pass, screw up a perfect shot, and in general go up against people who are immensely better trained and significantly more talented than me. Of course, it isn't my job to be better trained or more talented or even to win games. I just play for fun.

These guys on our team are making MONEY to do something most of us would love to get paid to do, and after last night's game, I'm not sure how many of them are worth it or deserve it. Let's hope that Carlos Ruiz doesn't get a bicycle trick (hat trick, all via bicycle kicks) next week.

Where's Homer when we need him? :ow: DOH!

Newsflash: Ruiz just tried another bicycle kick.

Funny how the announcers didn't bag on Ruiz for the BKs. On that 2nd one he tried there was a guy (?) coming in that was completely open that would've had better chances on net had he left it.

Anyway, I wanted Ellinger gone last October. But that didn't happen. I hope the reason is that management decided that it was a new team, the team was learning and so was Ellinger (his rookie year). So he's got a new group of players (of the 11 starters, only Pope, Brown, and Williams were with RSL last year) and it'll take a lil' time for that group to gel. So I hope they won't get all uppity and pull the plug anytime soon. It's just not the right time to do it.

That doesn't mean I was impressed yesterday. I was frustrated because I felt like the team was still too quick to give the ball up. And they seemed to lack any kind of plan to try to let Harris or Cunningham use their speed, get Cunny one on one with Reagan or let Harris have a footrace with Suarez (ya know who will loose). I'm still not sure the tactics are there. But it's the first real game of the season. Just as we shouldn't have got too excited over all the pre-season wins, this one loss shouldn't get us too worried.

That said, I don't expect to see more than 6 or 8 more losses before the all-star game. If that's the case I'm going to be getting worried and feeling impatient. By that time of the season the squad should be coming together. As long as they finish the season strong, that's what counts. Make the playoffs and then anything can happen.

I guess 13 in a row is my limit, since that's what we just "achieved."

If I could have come up with a description of how not to start a season, it would look like yesterday's game.

Cunningham in the Trib:

It was just an off-day when we got outplayed and outperformed. But I'm not going to hold my head down, I still think we have a very good team. We just have to make some improvements.

Chris Klein:

It was poor from the beginning. They outworked us, they out-thought us, they played more as a team than we did. We looked like 11 guys doing 11 different things and you're never going to win in this league doing that.

Some slack since they weren't here last year, but haven't we heard this before?

Patience? No.

Me too. I'm ready for some wins.

After last season, there really is no grace period.

I doubt anyone on the team (coaches included but maybe especially the coaches) slept well last night.
