04/09/06 - Frisco, TX: Carlos Ruiz became the first person in the history of professional soccer to complete a "bicycle trick" (hat trick composed entirely of bicycle kicks) yesterday, penetrating the ever-so-leaky RSL backline and pelting former Hoops 'keeper Garlick with shot after shot so hot, you could almost say they were smothered in Hooter's hot wing sauce.

In addition, Ruiz broke Clint Mathis' 5-goals-in-one-game record after putting in 3 penalty kicks. Giving thanks to the fickle MLS refereeing gods for their favorable penalty calls and offside no calls, Ruiz called his day "extraordinario, muy especial," and "full of fun and laughs." Little fish sure do flop around well out of water, but I didn't know they could laugh.

Ruiz also posted the highest jump of any player in MLS Fantasy Soccer value history. With Ching and Ruiz now tied with 6 goals this early in the season, some may wonder how many goals MLS' Golden Boot winner will score this year. "We are all looking forward to playing against RSL and Colorado 4 times this season," said Ching, indicating that Twellman would have a much more difficult time in the Eastern Conference. Anyone hear anything more on Sala? I saw he had "oral surgery" earlier this week. Cassaer isn't fit. If Sala can't play, we could see 22 yr old Ray Burse. Even at that, I didn't think Sala looked good last week. Hopefully whomever's out on the left the RSL can take advantage of Chris Brown's mentor, Bobby Rhine, and create a couple goals.
